What are your feelings about going onto the show Trading Spaces to get a room in your home decorated? Would you do it?

If a neighbor could talk me into it, I would want Laurie or Edwin. I do interior design myself so the only room I need done is the garage. Mom decided my garage was a free storage place and plopped a bunch of her boxes in it...ugh. I'd actually like Faber to come by and help me with some furniture designs. He and a business partner have their own furniture shop and they do phenominal work.

Oh I know, I can tell by what he does on the show that he must be wonderful as a furniture craftsman. He seems like a very pleasant man too.

I wouldn't no way no how! Not if they are only going to do one room. Now if they are going to do the whole house, I am so there!!! I do LOVE that show! The girls and me watch it all the time. I have gotten some really good tips here and there that we actually added to the house. I also love the one where they clean out a room and show them how to organize it. Darn old age, I can't think of the name of it. Anyway I have gotten great tips from that show as well.

Try watching design remix where they redo a room for $50 using existing materials in the home. You'll get a lot of goood, cheap ideas.

I enjoy watching the show but I would not take part in one. I have seen them painting perfectly good wood or brick white or another colour and you could never restore the furniture to its original wood grain. Furthermore I like to have a good relationship with my neighbours and friends and I would not want to risk ruining it. The other thing to consider is that it has to be done very fast and I often wonder if the quality of the work is up to par since there is so little time. I must admit though the designers have really innovative ideas. Excellent post!

I'd love to do it but I don't think the neighbors would be too pleased as I am to handymen what Paris Hilton is to MENSA. My wife would end up killing me with all the mistakes I was making (plus back in the day i'd be spending the entire time flirting with Paige Davis)...although that may make for some entertaining television.

HAHAHA!! I just got around to coming back to this discussion. "I am to handymen what Paris Hilton is to MENSA." That is absolutely hilarious!! As for you flirting with Paige, I tagged you as more of a Hildi man! Ha! While most women are head-over-heals for Carter or Ty, I am holding out for Frank!

Some of my neighbors live like pigs! I'm afraid I would get one of them and they'd turn the show into TRADING TRAILERS!!!!!!!! Double-wide version!

No, I don't believe I'd want to do that. My home is an eclectic style of antiques and artifacts passed down within the generations of my family. To me they are not mere object d'art, they are memories of where I came from in the family tree. I couldn't imagine anyone decorating my home for me as our tastes would surely be different. It's a good show, I enjoy watching it and the outcomes of the homes that they re-do, but I know I wouldn't enjoy giving carte blanche to someone just for a new decorating scheme.

I don't know if I would or not. I think it would be more of who I was trading with. I don't trust just anyones taste in decorating.

I wouldn't go there at all. It makes me feel like I am asking for a hand out or something. More like a charity thing and I don't feel good about that. Maybe without it being showed on TV, I would go for it somehow.
