It Bothers Me! Why are some dogs neglected? The Outcome should be obvious if you overfeed, and under exercise your dog. It's sad to see a dog waddling down the street, every move an effort, just because the pet owner doesn't know, or care about keeping his dog healthy. Is your dog a Couch Potato? What is your routine to keep your Pet healthy? How much exercise is enough? Do you prefer Dry or Wet Dogfood?

Yes, it bothers me to see an overweight dog...I have 2 dogs and we have a big yard..we have toys for them to fetch and we go for walks...we prefer dry food, less mess to clean up outside...we stick to one brand so their bodies get used to it..my boxer sleeps on the couch but is not a couch potato...

Sounds like your dogs are healthy. A yard to exercise in is great for your dogs!

I have show dogs. I can show my dogs in the ring any time. It bothers me to see the poor overfed dogs who are not allowed to run. It would do the owner good to exercise the dog and himself and whenever the poor dog comes and asks to go for a walk and to meet other dogs outside he is just petted and gets another treat. The life expectancy is highly reduced. Why do these people buy a dog at all? A dog should walk and run at least two hours a day. Usually four hours is plenty. I do prepare the meals for my dogs myself. They get fresh food and enough of it. Enough food is when one can still feel the ribs when one pets the dog.

You are an expert dog Owner! I had an Aussie sheep dog once. He was a good farm dog. Loved bringing in the cows...

Yes it bothers me. I didn't realize how fat my dog was getting until we just groomed her and cut off most of her hair. I see she is getting bigger. So I told my hubby we are putting her on a diet. We feed her to many table scraps which we are cutting down. I told him this just yesterday. I don't want her to have a hard time walking etc. We also need to exercise her more, so starting today we are going to get her out more. This is a goal of mine now that I see she is getting (fat). p.s. we prefer dry dogfood for her.

I used to feed my dog all he could eat Once a day. This seemed to keep him healthy and active. Dogs are not like people in the way they eat.
