Do you believe this is possible? I just read in the newspaper that a group of Bishops in the Philippines (CBCP) calling lawmakers to review certain laws before they were enacted including laws on terrorism, elections, and the like. Do you consider this meddlesome or is it just the church doing their part in society?

That is very possible,do you remember that in the past they work hand in hand and they only separate because of their conflicting interest. In order to attain their goal, that is to make the system work they must join force to at least control the growing number of people who are not happy with the present setup, the government controlling the people through laws, and the church pacifying the people through sermons and reading the word of God.

for the Phillipines i can not speak foe. But in the USA, the Myth os seperation of Church and State is just that. No where in the constatution does it say anything like this. It says that the stae can not pass laws restricting religion or the free exsercise therof. Meaning the state does not belong in religion, It furthers states that the govenment will not pass a law or act to establish one religion. Seperation means only that the State will not create a state religion, Catholic, methodist baptist or what ever, nethier will it restrict the freedom of religion. Over the past fifty years or so it has been redefind as freedom from religion by liberal supriem justases. The term "seperation of Church and State" first apperead in aletter from a president (forget wich one) to the Baptist who were concerned of a possible election or appointment of Catholic, and were concerned that he might owe his aligence to the pope rather than the USA, and proclaiming Catholosism as the state religion wich they were ashured that a seperation of Church and State would always exist and no offical state reconised church would be made. As Christians and the church we are not as some atest to not be part of the govenment, on contrary like everyone else we should lety our voices be heard, But not to the point of passing laws makeing our religious veiws law, or asstablishing a state religion. That is the true power of seperation. Many of the founding fathers in the federalest papers wrote about the souvernty of God over the United States, and other references to god in it decloration of Independence. Of course they never wantred religion out of Government but onlt to escaper the tyrany of a church state like that of England, Spain and Rome, that many of the first pigrams came to this country to escape.

Well, there's nothing wrong if they will change our laws just make sure that they would change it for a better law not the worst one... they must consider both sides the victim and at the same time the doer of course. Sometimes I hate our government officials...
