Did you know where your parents got your real name and what it means? my real name is Yvonne and it means Yew or archer. My mom got my name from one of her schoolmate before in college. She said she admired the lady so much for being so talented and smart. How about you?

I won't tell you my name but even though it is unusual, it is a name found in many cultures. I was named after my grandmother. In Germanic it means "love", in Japanese it means "south", in Gaelic it means "smooth,fine and small", in Dutch it means "Protector", in Hindu it means "precious stone", in Persian it means "azure", in Nepalese it means "precious", in Arabic it means "sea port", in Pashto, an Afghan language, it means "love".

I am not sure where my parents got my name from. Being the only boy of 4 kids, for some reason they chose Derek - I don't know if it has got any meaning, but I am aware that there weren't many using the names when my parents chose it when I was born.

Thank you :-) I never really thought about it being masculine at all. Not that it's feminine. Like in the UK, Leslie can be a man's name or a woman's name, but I never heard of a woman named Derek, so I guess it is masculine LOL

My name is Malgorzata (EN: Margaret) When my mother born me and was still in hospital she got that name from a friend from room ... she said i have to be Malgorzata. And my name means Pearl :)
