i dont get it, why would god kill his son because of all the bad things that we have done? whats the point? hes god, if he wanted to forgive us, he would have. why did he need to send his son to die? and jesus cant die cuz he is god himself as well... wow, the story of Christianity is illogical to the extreme lol.

You are getting so many answers that I agree with and I can give you even more. The big question is whether you want to believe what you hear or not. The Bible tells you exactly why, if you are only willing to read the Bible as a whole and not just extracts from it. Do proper study of the contents of the Bible and do not listen to all the critics. God ask of us to read the Bible, believe what we read, and trust Him with the rest. I know there are some confusing stuff in the Bible but do not break your head over it, just believe like a child and trust that God knows what He is doing. Do not question God or His intensions, He does not act or reason like us, He is far greater than that. We might not understand everything now, but we will when God reveals all to us in His time. Blessings, and enjoy the Bible.

if those are gods words, then they would be so amazingly written that even a child could understand it, not so that you need scholars and priests and translators to decipher it.

If the mind does not want to believe, there is no way even the most beautifully written text can change that. You need to have an open mind to understand and believe the scriptures. And there is one thing you have to understand, you cannot try to understand God's plan with your human logic. No human logic can be applied to understand the divine logic.

John 3:16 & 17 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him". It was the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus, the Son of God, paid the ultimate price for our sins. You are right, He is God and He didn't have to send His son to die, but he did because he loves us. Christianity could be described as illogical, but that is where faith comes in, right?

I always thought that Jesus and G-d had a pact. Jesus could go down and see what he could do but he only had a certain amount of time. And when the time was up, He had to return. That could explain some of it but not all.

So G-d knew how it would end, but did Jesus know too?

No I am not. I couldn't be, I hate my enemies. I don't love them. That leaves me out of being a Christian.

The way you look at it is that God is not only cruel but one tough father. Of course he wasnt going to just say ok you are forgivin keep on sinning and never really know me. The purpose was to set an example for all of us to follow. If Jesus wouldve wanted to there would have been no way that he would have been able to be captured but he surrendered because it was what had to be done to finish the example of obedience. God isnt going to force us to do anything either we are going to answer whats right or we arent everyone has that choice. Dont expect things to be easy if you do his will. Just expect that by being like Jesus and following his example you can overcome. By disobedience are we all sinner and by the obedience of one are we all saved.

no, that is not how i look at it... i look at it as illogical to the extreme. no part of this makes sense unless this god was not all powerful and all knowing.

i cannot compare an omnipotent all knowing god to my parents, because my parents (and all humans) know very little about anything..

Try being a parent than you might have a bit more understanding. Or put the same questions to your relationship with your parents.

This question has been answered in Gnostic texts. For them, our body is a bad thing and Jesus came to show us how to get rid of it without fear. Well, it is much more complicated and I am still learning about this, but you can get a new line of research for your question. Maybe check the Gospel of Judas!

Jesus did not die for my sins, I have never sinned. The reason I have never sinned is that there is no such thing as sin. Sin falls under the first motto of revelations if you can not lie to someone why bother talking to them.

Now, it seems to me that you always want to jump into a quick conclusion without examining it thoroughly because you said "i stopped reading after he assumes that atheists know for sure that god does not exist". From all of your discussions, I've noticed that you asked about Christianity's belief. I thought you're doing it because you wanted to get a validation of your belief. You told me that you're an atheist and you said that "being an atheist just means that there is no proof of god". So, how can you jump into a quick conclusion (no proof of god) if you don't want to hear from other sides who believe God is exist? This is the same thing... being a Scientist means that we have to do researches before getting to a valid conclusion -- In our discussion, you said "no proof of god". No matter if it is convenience or not for scientiests, they must do researches from different angles in order to get a correct answer (a valid conclusion). It seems to me that you didn't want to read it further because the article is not convenience to your belief (as you said, you're an atheist, aren't you?). Thus, I am getting a sense here that you just wanted to attack Christianity and your understanding of Christiniaty's belief is only based on what is convenience to you and it can come up to a biased conclusion. I also don't want to talk this further because I can't rely on someone who always wants to make a quick conclusion. You said that the author was stupid (" i found it stupid that he said that, and stopped reading"). Who is actually stupid? The author had a desire to do a soul-searching (researches) before he came up to his conclusion about the Christianity.

If you want to get answers regarding your questions from all of your discussions on myLot, you should read the article further. Because the article will answer all of your basic questions regarding the Christianity's belief. Don't judge a book based on its cover. This is the same thing... don't judge an article only based on the first paragraph or its first sentences. http://www.leaderu.com/isr/articles_resources/whydidjesusdie.html

Oh by the way, the article can be understood by human logic.

i find it hard to believe that any "smart" guy would say that. and stopped reading. if he does not know the definition of atheism, there is no point.

for the salvation of sin was only thru the blood of Christ thats why God the Father sent his only begotten Son. for it was written in the Holy book. people have sinned time and again but, He promised not to destroy us again so he sent his Son to save us from sins.

when God let alone Adam and Eve He gave them the freedom and so it was also given to us. even to sin was free but God also asked us to repent and live the way God wanted us. but because of free will we have the choice wether to follow His way or not.

I believe your question is illogical. Why? "RELIGION is one of my hobbies." That is what this group is called. If Religion is not something you like then you shouldn't have posted it on this theme, maybe you should have posted it on Life theme? Anyway, if you have doubts about the Bible, Jesus, and God. I suggest that you start reading the Bible, and/or talking to your pastor/priest to find answer to your questions. I wish you the best.

i don't believe you know what logic is.. logic = 1+1=2 if an atheist was not interested in religion, he would be an agnostic.

My self-educated opinions...take them or leave them: IF God were as he is "described", he would not have any need or desire of creating ANYthing for his amusement to begin with. Assuming he HAD created humans, however, he - as a perfect being himself - would have created us perfectly from the very start. IF there was indeed evil temptation in the world (that our perfect god supposedly built), then the all-knowing, all-seeing god would have ALSO "foreseen" the destiny of Adam and Eve before it could ever "occur". Therefore, it never WOULD have occurred... UNLESS...the god we are speaking of is NOT perfect, does NOT have a plan for each of us, is NOT all-knowing, and DOES enjoy seeing us suffer and beg him for mercy like some demented control freak. The funny thing about Christianity is that in order to follow it (as I did for years) is that a person is - by nature of the religion - required to ignore common sense, logic, instinct, and reality and replace it with rewritten mythology, fiction, fantasy, and delusion...and then call it factual. It is like holding a lemon in your hand and not only telling your friend that this object in your hand is square, purple and prickly, but actually making yourself BELIEVE - through self-convincing and idealistic desires, that the lemon is NOT round, yellow and smooth. Nearly every response from nearly every Christian is a parroted version of the last, AND of the next...a true indication (to me) of cult-like brainwashing through extremely controversial books which are said to be nothing more than mythology rewritten by man in order to "control the herd". I will not even venture into the true origins of the stories of the NT, as it is clear the audience in this thread is not interested anyway, but I want to point out how it is so odd that when people finally begin to use their OWN intelligence and common sense to try and unravel the mysteries of religion, they are guided to VERY SIMILAR belief structures all by themselves, without having to be told from some book or some other source EXACTLY what they "should" deduce in doing so.

To answer your question about god morphing into 3 beings, this is derived from ancient Earth religions and components of The Wheel of the Year which predates more modern organized religion.

haha, okay, I love god, he did not kill jesus. 'hmm,, i really am not into pastoring or giving some lectures and gospel, but i am not also stupid to question him again. With my past experience, god is really gving plans with out my notice. Well, believing in god is taking away all the logical things reasoning on his acts. It is because he is powerful that you won't even notice. Now giving logical reasons are only the limit of human powers, but with god, you will not be able to find even one single logical explination from his acts. It is just the matter of accepting what he did ^_^

lol... ok, even if i acknowledge the fact that god is above logic... (in other words, god is illogical lol) but he still exists, that would make all religions in the world wrong... right?

That is a very good question. Since He is a righteous God, He has to deal with things in a righteous manner. Yes, He could have forgiven us without dying for us. It is possible for Him to do that. But since He was righteous He has to deal with man in a human perspective, in human way. That is why He has to become a man to be our replacement. It should have been us who should be placed on the cross, but He made Himself sin on our behalf. Jesus was both God and man. A complete God and a perfect man. I hope you understand what i mean.

Well i guess i need to discuss this thing further. Who is Christ? Christ is the Savior sent from God to the world to solve the problems of human life. He is the embodiment of the Triune God. Colossians 2:9 says"For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." He is also God incarnated,"The Word was God...the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us...full of grace and reality."That's in John 1:1,14. Therefore, He is both the complete God and the perfect man.

It was a law before, anyone who sinned shall get crossed(major sins). For God loved the world so much that he gave his only son for the sake of his people in this world. Jesus Christ was the one who was crusified for the people of that present time and future(us). So anyone who believed in Jesus' sacrifice shall get saved.

let me enlighten you a bit on this matter the god made adam and frist and they sinned against god by eating of the tree of good and evil but they were tricked into too doing it by satan because he enticed by saying it looks good to eat and god is only telling you not to eat it because he dont want to be smarter then him since they sinned then that sin that they committed doomed the whole world all of humanity would have been on there way straight to heel but god loved us so miuch that he sent his son jesus down to earth to be the sin sacrifice for us aut he had to die because if he did there would not be any remission for our sins he was the sacrifice for us but the good news is he rose again and that is why we are able to have eternal life today hope this helps you out blessings peace and love in jesus name!!!!!!
