Have any of you had this treatment? My therapist has me put on headsets with the sounds of water going in and out. Then she asks me questions about whatever we are trying to work on (for example....self worth, fear, etc) and makes notes.
I have had several of these sessions and actually feel some better but I wonder how.
Thought I would see if this is a new technique or something old.

It is not biofeedback. My insurance would not pay for that but they will for this. Supposedly it is used alot for trauma related depression.

It sounds like a gentle hypnotic/suggestive therapy. I'm pleased for you that you are getting benefit from this treatment. The sounds will trigger a memory or a feeling i.e the womb/ security etc which relaxes you enough to be open to dealing with difficult issues. Keep at it and good luck onerygirl

I never heard of that. I'm a psychology major, so I think I should eventually. Music and sounds have an extreme effect on mood. You could play similar stuff at home.
