I am a Christian and I gave my life to the Lord when I was 7 years old. I also recieved the baptism of the Holy Spirt (Ghost) and I began to speak in tongues. Alot of people at my church or other churches that we fellowship with speaks in tongues... So, I was raised to think that almost everybody did it. I didn't realize until I got older that it wasnt as polpular as I thought it was. And ALOT of people even find it weird. I don't think it is. ANd so alot of times, when it comes to me dating guys and they find out that I speak in tongues, I think that it kind of freaks them out, (though I don't even do it in front of them)... What should I do? And how do you feel about it?

I'm a Catholic. My husband and my mother in-law is a Christian. I use to follow my mother in-law to Christian's church as she want me follow her religion. When I go to the church, more of them are speak in tongues including my mother in-law. I don't know what they doing? What they pray? I feel that very noisy because I practice since I was young when pray must in a quiet place. (Sorry, if I hurt you)

Well nessadrake I believe that the speaking in tongues as mentioned in the bible is really speaking in different languages. The people were coming to Jerusalem from all parts of the world and would speak in foreign languages. The speaking in tongues was a gift of being able to preach so that every one could understand the decuples and the apostles. Any way that is what I believe and why I believe it. I would also feel very wierd to be in a church where this was taking place. I would also feel wierd to be in a catholic mass because they are both very diffferent from the way I was brought up. May be you should only date boys from your own denomination
