Hot enough for ya?

Welcome to the dog days of summer. When I was a kid, I used to think the dog days of summer were when you sweat like a dog, tongue hanging out... But I now know it has to do with Sirius, the dog star. In summer, it rises and sets with the sun (in the northern hemisphere, anyway). It is very bright and the ancient Romans believed it added to the heat of the sun. Sounds reasonable to me...

I love the warm weather. After those cold months of winters here on the Prairies, I would welcome 100 degrees F. So much for the weather being hot enough for me. I mean are we supposed to enjoy just the cold weather because we live in Canada? Say maybe that could be a test for the true Canadian, not the use of "eh", the love of hockey, or the despising of the Americans, the understated way we speak, but the love of very cold weather. Guess that leaves me out as a true Canadian. I hate the cold and I love the heat.

Actually, I prefer the heat, too, but I can do without the humidity... We Canadians constantly talk about the weather because there's so much of it! Wintertime, everyone asks "Cold enough for ya?" and in the summer... well, you know.

Hot it sure is and humid too. If the humidity goes away I will like it a lot better. It is like living in a rain forrest with this humidity. But such is the dog days of summer....throw the dog a bone someone.
