A friend here on Mylot recommended Patricia Cornwell to me as a good author to try. I went to the library yesterday and there were only a few books by her on the shelf, so I picked up one called RISK. Has anyone read this, and if so did you like it? I already have 2 other books that I want to finish reading before I start this one, but wanted to make sure it was a decent book before I dive into it. Thanks in advance!

I have read many Patricia Cornwell books but haven't heard of Risk before. I haven't had much time to sit and read lately. Most of her books go in sequence. I didn't realize that until I jumped ahead a few books. I started off reading them in order, then went back after I noticed. Everything I have read by her I have loved. She is one of those 'Can't put it down' authors.

Thanks for your response. I haven't started reading this book yet, but hope to soon. I'm partly through another book that I've been reading to my son each night. Hopefully Cornwell won't be too much for him. LOL!

I have read Risk and did not like it, but I have to say that I love all of Patricia Cornwell's "Kay Scarpetta" novels. It's strange to me how all of the Scarpetta novels are just beyond excellent, but if you read one that doesn't have the Kay Scarpetta character, they are so different that you'd swear it wasn't the same author if you couldn't see her name clearly printed on the cover. If you want excellent Patricia Cornwell, my advice is to read one (or all) of the Kay Scarpetta series. The others are really not worth the effort.

My friend read Kay Scarpetta series, and she really enjoyed them as well. When I went to the library, there was hardly any books on the shelves by Cornwell. I may have to request some to be transferred to my local library. If I dont like Risk, I'll try this series next.

I have read two of Patricia Cornwell's books, but not "Risk". I picked another one up at a garage sale this past weekend. She is a good forsenics author as she has personally consulted with forsenics departments for accuracy and in fact has done investigations on real cases. She has been on one of those tele-news shows like Dateline or 20/20. I am sure you will enjoy her books.

It sounds like I will really like her books. I'm trying to finish reading "Girl's Night Out" which is a collection of short stories. As soon as I'm finished this one, i have one other book to read before I can start Risk. HOpe to soon!

I'm not sure I've read Risk - is it her new one? I have read Patricia Cornwell - actually I've listened to her on tapes & cds. If you are easily grossed out, it might not be for you since she is a medical examiner. I'm not especially, but there have been a few times I've been glad I didn't have to smell or see what she described.
