Mosquitos are terrible this time of the year. I use off insect repellent when I go outside that helps when I remember to put it on. Last night I went to a cookout and those mosquitos really enjoyed me. I have insect bites and they itch and I don't want to scatch it because it can make a mark on my skin. What can I put on my skin to relieve the itch so that I will not be tempted to scatch my skin and damage it?

I use a cream called "soov" - it always helps us and usually goes away the next day.

I actually don't know if they sell it here in the USA, sorry. I bought it from Samoa on our way through to the USA last year. You can possibly ask someone at a pharmacy if they have it or something similar.

I just read somewhere that you should put toothpaste on mosquito bites to stop the itching. I have never tried it, but sounds like it might work.

First, take a cool shower. The itching occurs when you body produces the chemical histamine and brings it to the surface of the skin. When you are warm, the histamine is closer to the surface causing more itching.
So, a cool shower will help.
Then take an antihistamine.
A hydrocortisone cream is the best thing you can put on the bites.
You might have to put it on a couple times a day. But whatever you do...don't itch because it will only make it worse! :) As I am sure that you have already discovered.
And for the next week...even if you think they are gone, still do not itch them.
The marks and swelling will be gone...but if you itch it, wow! Those suckers will swell back up!!!! ha ha
So....cool shower and anti-itch cream.
