Dreams: can you hear them?

When I dream I do not think I can hear things. I mean, my dreams are images, not sounds. I see things, but I do not think I hear stuff. My friends kid has always said that he heard a strange dream last night. Do you hear dreams, or do you see them? Or do you both hear and see when you dream?

depends on what the subject of your dream is really, if it is about a gunshort, am very sure you will hear the bang!

I think you are right about the gunshot! [But then again, it may sound the same telepathically, as it does actually..?]

I dream in images and sounds. I have conversations in my dreams. My hubby always asks me what I was dreaming since I was talking in my sleep. Hope he hasn't heard anything bad. LOL

I think I comunicate telepaticly in my dreams. maybe I am wrong. because I talk in my sleep too. Once we were on a boat home from Finland and i slept in a loungechair. When I woke up lots of people stared at me - they were all laughing. I had talked in my sleep - in a strange language that sounded much like finish.
Don't you think your hubby would tell you if you said something bad?

..that's very interesting.. I'll have to consider this over the next few days (er nights). I'm thinking I 'hear' but it's more like a meditative type 'hearing' which is a little higher or more refined or finer, than actual "hearing"... Am I making any sense?

yes i have the experiences like this, of hearing sounds. Infact, Sometimes, in dream, I used to tell my parents about a dream that i have dreamt some days back.. Strange isn't it. Yet, it is true 100%. I really dont understand the fuzzy logics of the dream that we have.

..ah! In this dream, to my mind you are focusing on how you cannot seem to communicate something to your parents..? Don't mind me I simply cannot resist a dream interpretation.. or trying to anyway! They say dreams are our self trying to talk to ourself in symbols and feelings.. the dream symbols, aRe the feelings!:)

This is funny. I almost started a discussion on this topic today. What happened was this morning after using the vacuum cleaner to do some cleaning, I went back to sleep. In the sleep I had this weird dream that we had like one hundred guests arrive at our house and they were at the door. As they were unexpected guests, I hurried to the living room to make sure it was in good shape. I realized I needed to make it a little cleaner, so I picked up the vacuum cleaner and started cleaning. It was so loud in my dream that when someone came to wake me up I could hear the voice been masked by the sound of the vacuum cleaner. This person was calling my name but it seems the vacuum cleaner was drowning the voice. When I eventually woke up, I realized the sound of the vacuum cleaner was only in my head. Really weird.

You do not mention the age of the child if he is very young perhaps he is using the wrong word to express himself? Although he is probably hearing in his dreams...I know I do. I chat with my boyfriend quite frequently on MSN and I have woken up thinking I have heard the sound of him messaging only to realize my pc is off and I couldn't have really heard it for real. Also there are times when real sounds intrude and blend into my dreams. Such as hearing a chainsaw going and dreaming there are people on my property cutting down my trees. My little cousin has told me he was dreaming of being on a spaceship when he was actually hearing the beep beep beep of his alarm clock going off.

Usually I both hear and see in my dreams, but the most dominant part is the seeing part. The talking is usually in the background and usually thoughts said out loud. I seem to dream about things I am thinking about. Like when we were driving along the Marine Highway to the ship after visiting relatives and he said he did not want to move back here. I was rather upset because I love the coast and I dreamed he was very angry and made me cry. I also dream about being lost in a store and having to take the escalator and there are no stairs and I hear the salesladies telling me to try on this dress, but I am a visual person anyway so the talking is not that important unless it makes me sad.

I hear and see in my dreams. I have the most amazing dreams (when I remember them... I don't often remember them) and it is like I am dreaming in technocolor or something. Details galore and very involved settings. I asked my doctor about it once because I wondered if I was sleeping well with that much going on in my dreams. He said that I am sleep best at those times.
Sometimes I fall asleep with the TV still on and the sound and conversations from the screen will enter into my dreams.

When I dream it is not like I am watching myself in a dream but acting myself out in the dream. It is like reality, it is really happening you'll only know it's a dream when you wake up. Every sense is working, if I am dreaming that I am in hot place I would be able to feel it, if it is about food I would be able to taste it.
