This year I'm really trying with my garden. The violas have flowered wonderfully and now havesome open seed cases. I've picked them off and put them in my little greenhouse to dry. Anyone know when or how I plant the seeds please?

I take mine when they have dryed on the plants and sprinkle them right then in spots where i want them to grow. I have them comming back every year more and more. I do it more the natural way as it would be if they were growing in the wild

I will try that with some in the flower beds but I'm a bit wary of deciding by accident that they are weeds and pulling them out be accident. Maybe if I pop them between things that are already there and in their own little beds where they would self seed naturally I'll manage it. If I have some in the greenhouse too I should learn what the leaves look like. Thanks windwalker, I'm new to seeds so it's a bit of an adventure, lol.

when I got my violas i never dreamed the would come up on their own like that. I know i weeded a lot of them out before I learned to id the little plants but they look pretty much like the bigger plants leaves just very tiny. good luck with your planting. Ill go out later today and see If i can spot a baby plant and take a photo and post it for you. To help with the ID

Hi honey, thanks for the links! I like my little flowers but this is the first year I've really done much in the garden so it's a big learning curve done slowly, lol. Sorry I've not been about much I just got engrossed in my coursewirk, the garden and pottering, hardly been online at all, it's not cos I think any less of you I promise. Hugs!!
