What are the best printer/scanners out there?

My printer broke and it's huge. So I need a new one, that's good for pictures and it doesn't take alot of space. And also, what's the difference between the inkjet and the laser printers?

I have a hewlett packard printer which is lousy and i have a canon canoscan scanner with photoshop 5 which is the bomb!So i guess i recommend canon products more than HP.Good luck with whatever you purchase!
