Have you ever slept with your contacts?

I just got two-week disposable contacts five days ago. The doctor repeatedly told me not to sleep with them and about how he gets disappointed when his patients come in with red eyes from sleeping with their contacts. I, of course, understood everything he told me and I told myself I would not be stuck in that situation. I was fine for a couple days, but then I slept with my contacts on the third night! I remember laying on my bed, checking my email, telling myself that I probably should take them off before I fall asleep. Next thing I remember, 4 hours late, I'm waking up with burning eyes! I get up and look into the mirror and my eyes are red! I started freaking out! I did everything I could think of. When I was taking my contacts off, they were sorta sticky, but I eventually got them out and my eyes cleared out within an hour. I went back to sleep and I didn't wear the contacts throughout the whole day. A couple days later, I tried to put them back on and my eyes started itching and burning and they got red! Even without my contacts on I felt like I had something in my eye, though I had nothing. I finally crawled my way to the doctor and found out that I did not infect my eye! Thank God! The contacts were just useless and when I put on new ones, I was fine. Sry about the long, elaborate story but has anyone slept with their contacts? What happened? Has anyone been infected? I know I've learned my lesson.

I sometimes sleep with my lenses when I am traveling but it never for more than one night and even then when I feel that my eyes have become very dry I just take them off. If the lenses dry up in the eyes then the chances of getting infection increases and when you have an ulcer or abrasion in the eye you will get foreign body sensation that is as if the lenses are still in the eyes.

I almost did but thank god my sister wakes me up.. Actually, it's the no. 1 rule, not to sleep with our contacts. I was told that it will really irritate your eyes. I've been wearing contacts for almost a decade now and never slept with it. =P
