What is your favorite Straight actor playing a Gay role?

I have two favorite straight actors playing a gay man on film. The first is Harry Hamlin in Making Love.he played a writer who doesn't want a relationship, oops i gues I should have said spoiler alert. and my second is Eric Roberts in It's My Party. Here we go "Spoiler Alert". He plays a gay man who is dying of Aids and decides to end his life before he becomes bed ridden and loses his essence.It is my favorite Eric Roberts film. He doesn't carry a gun, he isn't obnoxious or insane, he is just a strong, funny human being.

I loved him as Jodi. He was the gay character I saw on t.v.I had seen The Boys in The Band the movie but Jodi was my first t.v. character.

OH he was great as Jodi in SOAP. I loved that show and Billy Crystal was great in it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers it.

I've seen several excellent actors who are straight that have played Gay roles, but of course now that I have to write on it my mind blanks. Nathlan Lane and Robin Williams come to mind from "The Birdcage". John Stamos was great in "Wedding Wars". He really was very good in that role. I think my favorite would have to be Robert Preston in "Victor/Victoria". He was just too good in the role. Over the top but believable at the same time.

Heheh I love that scene. That movie is very enjoyable and one of my favorites. He was perfect for that role. Of course Alex Karras was good as one as well. Not something you expect at all from him. Of course Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze in Too Wong Foo were fantastic. To think Patrick Swayze had to fight for the role to begin with, they didn't want him thinking he was too masculine.

I love Too Wong Foo. Have you seen the Australian film it was based on, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert?It is great.

Oh I forgot about the "old queen". Preston was great.Very believable. I love the scene where he is showing Julie how to be a drag queen."With lots of shoulder , remember you're a drag queen!"

Rob Schneider in "The Hot Chick." Though he was not directly playing a gay role but he became a woman and I think they're similar. I just love that movie.
Another one is Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Flawless"--he played a gay role and he was amazing.
There's also one Filipino actor, Gio Alvarez, who really amused me when he played a gay in the movie "You Are The One"
