Ever pass on a book to a friend because you wanted to send a message?

Every now and then I read a book about the enduring power of friendship. Two, so far, actually. The first one was Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. I read that several times and one day decided to pass it on to my best friend of 18 years (it was about 15 years then). I thought it was a great illustration of how a friendship like ours could endure through good times and bad. After reading it, she called me and we had a good long chat (and cry) about how many aspects of our friendship we could see in the YaYas. At the moment I'm reading Love Ya Like a Sister. It's a story of 4 teenage friends told through letters, emails and cards when one went abroad with her family for a year. Just a few months into the family's trip, the girl who was abroad became very ill and died. I'm only about halfway through it, but I think that it's another one that would be great to pass on to my best friend. Anyone else every have a similar desire?
