What is Bollywood?

Bollywood basically refers to the Indian film industry. From what I've seen, Bollywood films are usually 3 hours or longer and combine various movie elements (comedy, romance, action) with song & dance. The term Bollywood is a combination of Bombay (where Bollywood films originated) and Hollywood.

I believe its Asia's version of Hollywood but it incorporates more Asian style cutlure, language and way of life. I do believe this is the main core of what Bollywood is although im no expert so maybe someone else could give you the full story behind it.

Bollywood is the copied same version of Hollywood. Its because of the city of India named Bombay now known as Mumbai. You can say Bollywood is the film industry of India where movies are made. I think Mumbai will put signs of Bollywood in there city just like Hollywood.

hear it from an indian:) bollywood s an film industry based in bombay which deals with hindi films...hindi s our national language...glad tat u hav heard abt bollywood and one more thing ..there s another wood in india namely KOLLYWOOD it deals with tamil (a language) films and is based in madras... tamil s my mother tongue:)

Bollywood stands for the Indian Film Industry. Just like the word Hollywood. There are several actors and actress who you perhaps know are Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai to name a few.
