It seems like my Dell inspiron 6400 laptop has been very overheated lately. I did some research and i found out that it's a very common problem. Do you guys have any solutions?

You should be able to find a cooling pad for your laptop, which is a thin device that sits underneath your computer and helps to keep it from overheating. Unfortunately, laptops do have a tendency to overheat, which really defeats the idea of them being on your lap all of the time!

first my question is how many hours did your laptop run a day?

its base on the how you been used..and it is in a adapter or in a battey module....if its overheated over an 8 or 12 hours maybe you fit the capacity of your units

That is very unbeliavable for me... My laptop sometimes is running continously 24h, and I have never had an experience like this... (Mine is a Fujitsu Siemens laptop)

There are some programs that allow you to adjust fan speeds and clock speeds to improve that. I stoped using after I upgraded the bios on my laptop, but if you search the web you will find some I guess. Be carefull though, using these programs must be done with caution to not harm the computer. Read carefully all instructions. Also, there are some small acrilic (and other materials to) things that you put under the laptop and that have some extra fans (you plug it on your usb port) to help cooldown the laptop. Look at computer stores for those. :) Good luck. :)

happens to my dell latitude d600 also. there are some laptop coolers on the market and they range from 8 to 26 USD. i haven't bought one yet, but thinking of buying one, for now i just make do with using an electric fan pointed to the laptop or sometimes i put spacers underneath the laptop so that air flows freely underneath it. it works! =)
