Whats your worst sporting injury that you have incurred ?. Was it recently or long ago ?.
For me it was many years ago, I was bush horse racing, something freaked the horse and its head came that far back that it smashed into my face, causing a broken nose. It was a great look for a while seing my nose splattered across my face...LOL..But it never turned me away from riding again..I still love it.

Are you a Jockey?
I haven't had an sports injuries personaly, but my daughter plays sports and she's had a few minor injuries...
Nothing major so far, and I hope to God she won't have any major injuries.
I guess her "injury" would have been her sprained finger. I guess that's minor compared to a busted nose, but when your a pitcher, it does set you back a bit. She happened to be playing third base at the time with girls older than herself and the runner ran into third and she ended up with a sprained finger. It put her out of commission for several months.
She's also had problems with her knees. I took her to a doctor specializing in sports medicine. I don't think her pain is cause by the sport. I think it has to do with the aligment of her knees, but I believe the sports aggravated the situation.
For a while it made me wonder if the benefits of being athetic outweigh the risks. I'm still not sure I know the answer to that one.
When your into sprots, your more likely to stay healthy and stay out of trouble, but then you have sports injuries to deal with. Occassionaly the injuries can be extremely serious.
Sorry if I got off track. Your discussion just inspired me to go off on this topic. lol Thanks.

I have a couple, the main one was I broke a part of bone of in my knee in Netball, and had to have 6 rods inserted when I was 15 and then was told I was not allowed to play netball again. I was in a metal splint for about six weeks, and then had months of physio. I was not impressed to say the least as I played netball, basketball, tennis, and was quite into other sports just for fun, and then was told no more. I had to give it all up as my knee was stuffed. As I sit here in this cold weather it still gives me grief.
Anyway moving away from that story which as you can tell is a sore point, When I was about 13 I was playing tennis against my dad who I had never before beaten and I won!! I in my glory decided to attempt jumping the tennis net, alas it was not to be as I ended up clipping the top of the net with one foot tangling myself a bit and crashing down on the other side landing not so great on my other foot. I tore the ligaments and tendons in my ankle and was in plasterfor 6 weeks over the christmas holidays!! Plus I was the running joke around town for about 12 months!!! And of course it went all around school! I was nicknamed Jack and the little song was changed to Jack be nimble Jack be quick Jack jumped over the tennis net and Quit. Ha ha , I didnt find it funny. I do miss my sport.

LOL......I just had a visual of these legs getting tangled in the net..I sounds like you have been in the wars...Sorry that your knee is still sore...I bet in this cold weather...My arm aches like hell sometimes...I tried to skate in a thin fence when I was 6 and broke my elbow and wrist and dislocated my shoulder.

I imagine it was quite a sight! My show off tactics got me into trouble!! My pride was dented for ever more. I laugh about it now and so does my hubby! Yeah the cold weather seems to play up with any old injuries, makes me feel old the way my body aches in winter! Geez that would have hurt, broke your elbow and wrist!! Was it the one you write with?
Your arm would ache from top to bottom, shoulder, elbow, wrist. At least your fingers were okay! lol

Ouch! honey - that sounded sore! My worst sporting injury came a long, long time ago when I was about 13 and in high school - yes we did have school when I was 13 - it wasn't quite the dark ages! lol We were doing pe and we all had to play hockey, which I hated but tried my best with anyway! One of my friends played hockey at county level and was fantastic, I am never quite sure what happened but one minute I was running along stick in hand the next I came to in the school medical room in massive pain! My friend had hit me right in the face , full force with her hockey stick(totally unintentional she promised me!) I had a broken nose, two massiveblack eyes and a dislocated jaw! My orthodontist later told me if I hadn't had braces in (retainers) I would have lost quite a few teeth! The best thing about it was that I was given special permission that I NEVER had to play hockey at school again - see thewre is always a positive side! xx

It happened to me years ago, when i was schooling. I was wicketkeeping in a cricket match between the schools. Suddenly one of the bouncers bowled by our bowler got awkward bounce and the ball hit "Bang" between my eyebrows, as no protective gear i was wearing. The face was so swollen and i had a cut in my face. AFter that match i never kept wickets.

Calais, my friend. Im sorry to hear about that broken nose accident you suffered many years ago. For me, it was my knee. I injured my right knee while playing basketball three years ago. I collided with a team mate resulting to my injury. I got sidelined for several months before I got totally healed. I am again
playing my favorite sports but with some caution now.
Have a good day, my friend.

The injury I suffered was basketball related and pales in comparison to your nose splatter..=) I am 5'7", short right? Still one of my dreams was to be able to dunk the ball, so I trained, I strengtened my legs and some other muscle groups. When it came time to field test-disaster. It was a good jump just two inches shy of my target, the landing was bad. I hurt my left ankle but I was still able to stand up and walk to the sidelines where I sat on one of the benches. Minutes later when I tried to stand up and walk I felt a shooting pain, it was bearable as long as I didn't step with it. Just as you with your horse-riding I continue to play basketball, I can no longer jump like I used to though.
