Do you polish shoes of your kids?

Dear friends, those of us, who have school going kids need them to prepare and help them get ready for their schools, every morning. To help them to get ready, we normally do their little jobs...such as ironing their clothes and polishing their shoes. Do you polish shoes of your kids, when they leave for their schools or do you ask them to polish their shoes themselves? I help my kids polishing their shoes everyday, when they leave for school, just to save their time...but I find...this way they may not become independent and they would always expect me to do polish their shoes. Your views and experiences please. Thanks!

Yes I do. When I polish my shoes, with the same brush I polish the shoes of my son. Otherwise, if I allow him to polish, I need to buy couple of polish tins a month.

When i was in my school days my dad used to polish my shoes and my elder brother used to iron my uniform. After growing up and when i started to do things induvidually i never expected them to help and sometimes when i get late my home people helped me and still helping me.. Actaully parents should help their children to some extent but if the children have enough time before leaving school..well they should do certain things like polishing shoes, packing their bags, packing lunch, filling water bottle etc.,

I iron my 7 year-old's uniform and keep it ready. It is his duty to make sure everything is ready the night before school. He has to polish his shoes before he goes to bed (except for the white canvas shoes which are washed). He has to pack his bags, polish his shoes and make sure his uniform is ready (though I have my routine in place, sometimes I forget) before he goes to bed the night before. My dad used to make me do it myself and that's how I made my son do it too.

I haven't quite got to that stage in polishing shoes, but when my son starts Kindergarten in September, no doubt I will be helping him to do it.

No, I don't polish my kids school shoes. Neither do they. My daughter werars sports shoes to school. They are only allowed to wear black shoes. Fortunately black doesn't show the dirt easily. On the rare occassion I will wash her shoes. I don't polish my shoes either. If the get dusty or dirty I wash them. I stepped in the dog poo this morning when I was hanging the clothes on the line. I had slippers on. So I had to wash them later.

At first when they were very young, but now that they are 9 to 14 years of age I let them do it themselves.

My two daughters now really can manage there selves specially on there things in schools. Since were almost three here in our house they are the one who really helps me in some light work they can, and it is really a big help for me. And I already train them since, that there things are there responbility, I'll just ask them to have some time to do it by themselves.

Hi there. No I dont polish or clean my childrens footwear. My children are at that age of being capable to do these personal chores themselves and they do. They will clean and polish with oil there sports footweat, or if they're going out with family or friends they do the same thing, polish and clean there shoes...
