I have two takes on this:
Firstly, by a referring to a person’s entire life, we should not forget that childhood is also a part of “entire life” (most of us tend to overlook it). Christ, as far as I know, had a normal childhood just like Buddha, Mother Teresa, Sri Sri Ramakrishna and other saints of various religions. So why should a normal child not joke and have fun?
Secondly, as they say “Laughter is the best medicine”. I am sure all these wise men and women knew this truth, that humour or rather the sense of it, is an integral part of every human being. You cant be a grumpy faced irritating bore and expect people to be drawn towards you. I am sure all great saints understood and appreciated the value of humour and shared it among friends and disciples.
But if you are referring to risqué and inane jokes, I do doubt it, as the mental framework of such men and women are way matured and enlightened for such petty gags.

i agree. we'll miss a lot in life if we never joked during childhood. Of course, i believe God will forgive us for telling bad jokes when we were so young. and of course, if we can manipulate joke itself into something useful, like you say, "laughter is the best medicine" and it's FREE too...lol..
risqué and inane jokes are most probably told by people who are bored of his life, making him less intelligent...and tell jokes of lower qualities...lol...(no hard feelings to whom it may concern..lol..)

Ya, no hard feeling (to whomever it may concern) life’s too short to harbour negative feelings for reasons whatsoever!

i may assume that everybody told jokes at least once(or more) during their life..lol..
but as we may put a little research, jokes fall on two separate categories - good jokes and bad jokes which can still be categories further in details..
there is a possibility that jokes in the ancient times are still uncorrupted, poetry-like or lesson-like, etc..
(just a possibility)
therefore, jokes during the times of prophets could be considered cleaner than today's...
i think... ;)

Being humorous is a noble quality. We all know that laughter keeps us healthy both physically and mentally. So I guess, Saints do joke :)
