Have you ever been to jail?

Many people never see the inside of a jail cell? Some are to familiar with this surrounding? With all of the recent talk about celebrities who have gone or may go to jail....I began to wonder just how many of us have ever been to jail... I have been to jail...it was not my finest hour...but no less the truth...it was many years ago now(24 yrs)...I was out on bail within a few hours and it was for DUI....I do not drink alcohol but there was a time when I tried it....granted it was not smart....I was mad at my husband and went to the bar and began drinking...I got a call from a friend and decided to go and pick her up and bring her to where I was at.... It did not work out like that...I pulled up in front of the bar and she went in...I went to jail..... It was so scary and to make matters worse...I never drank so I was sick on top of everything else....I had to attend driving school and pay a huge fine....all because I decided that I would make him pay for making me mad....joke on me...huh.... So have you ever been to jail?? Did once teach you a valuable lesson??? Or did you require more than one trip??

isn't it wierd how sometimes an experience like that will straighten people up and others just keep on doing the same things

I have been to jail. It was for driving on a suspended license. But there is a catch. It was never suspended. Unfortunately I had to serve time because I was less than cooperative with the police. Would you let someone rob you of your freedom without a fight? I had to do 14 days. 2 days a week. It was like a resort. I used to stay up all night getting drunk and stagger into the jail at 5:30 in the morning and pass out for about 14 hours. Then lay around and watch TV and eat. I wouldn't call it jail. It was more like a relaxing break from every day life. Someone served me. LOL. My time in jail would definitely not keep me out if it were like that everywhere. But that was about 10 years ago. If you want to know more about it, check out my have you ever been arrested for something you didn't do discussion.

I am sorry that this happened to you...and I will heck out your other discussion.... It sounds like you weathered it well...LOL I know that would be very difficult to be arrested for something that you did not do....I don't think I would have fought with the police, myself...but I would have been very upset and would have wanted to get it settled quickly.... Thanks, Coolseeds....

jail cell - a place where the prisoners are kept.
Hehehe.. wow.. you were really a tough one. hahaha... Here's a joke bout jail cells: A prisoner in jail receives a letter from his wife: "Dear Husband, I have decided to plant some lettuce in the back garden. When is the best time to plant them?" The prisoner, knowing that the prison guards read all mail, replied in a letter: "Dear Wife, whatever you do, do not touch the back garden. That is where I hid all the money." A week or so later, he received another letter from his wife: "Dear Husband, You wouldn't believe what happened, some men came with shovels to the house, and dug up all the back garden." The prisoner wrote another letter back: "Dear wife, now is the best time to plant the lettuce." =)

No I haven't but in the past I wished I had done, no, I'm not proud of what I wanted back then but I was in a trapped relationship, I had no escape, I was desperate and I seriously considered getting myself put inside it was a couple of options I had to escape, either that or the big S. Thankfully I chose neither but sometimes I would love to be put in the isolation block on my own for peace!

I have never been to jail or even been close to getting arrested, and I am glad for that. I think my main reason for beeing so sacerd is all the things I went to with my brother. He has been faulsly accused and put in jail for a week, but he has also been in jail when he was guilty.. that time for about a year,,

I haven't been but my s/o has. It was back in his college days. Two of them were one nighters for not paying his various traffic fines. He was living in his car at one point and racked up a lot of parking tickets for falling asleep in places he shouldn't have been sleeping. His first jail visit was the reason he was living in his car in the first place. He and two buddies had been staying at a boarding house. The lady that owned it had a car in the yard that hadn't run in years. She asked them to take a look at it since that was what they were going to school for. The next day all three of them got evicted and arrested because she claimed they stole parts off of the car. They didn't take off anything except for what they told her they would try to fix. He said he always thought she wasn't quite right in the head. They all ended up being released and all the charges were dropped after the police investigated a little more. That was 20 years ago and he hasn't been back since. He's got a situation going on right now that could put him there though. He had an accident about a month or so ago. The details are honestly a little funny now. Anyway at the scene the police officer told him it was a no fault mechanical failure. Twelve days ago though he received two fines in the mail totalling almost $500. He was ordered to pay within 10 days which was impossible or there would be a warrant out to arrest him. He hasn't paid but did consult a lawyer and plead not guilty to the charges. The problem is we can't afford the lawyer either. He hasn't gotten his hearing date yet but we're just crossing our fingers at the moment.

I am so sorry to hear about your s/o having legal problems they are a major pain in the rear.... My little jog through lock up was brief and a very scary experience....and a long time ago.... I know about financial difficulties...3 days after Mom...the transmission went out in my 4 x 4 truck and the estimate is between $2500-$3000....so it is sitting for I have no idea how long.... I will pray for you and your family, my friend....for all of this to work out in your favor...many courts allow a payment plan once you appear before the judge...a little lesson that one of the kids taught me.... Thanks for sharing, my dear friend....

No, I have not, and I do not really wonder the jail inside. I was "arrested" once in Italy. I was only 18 and I could not protect myself. I did not understand what and why happens. Infact the cause was that I could not proove that I am a tourist. (it was in 1992!!) They supposed that I spent more than 3 (or 6?) months in Italy, but in fact my passport was only 1 month old, so it was impossible. But nothing happened they asked only my details, and I had to return Hungary :D Now, I am older and smarter, so I could stand for my rights.

wow tina, you bad girl you. i have never been to jail. but i think we all are one dumb idea away. no one is perfect and it only take that one time to do something with out thinking that can put any of us behind bars for a short stay or the rest of our lives. i think that it is important to always be aware of yourself and your thoughts at all times. because again, we are all just one dumb idea away from the big house

I got arrested, but I was never put in a cell, I sat at the police station in handcuffs but was let go before I even got processed, no finger prints or nothing. It was a dumb disturbing the peace charge, I never should've really even been brought in but I understand due to what was going on at the time, more for my protection I suppose. =)
