I am so happy for my oldest girl she has gotten closer to God

My oldest daughter who lives with her mom usually spends the summer with us. She goes to church at a non-denominational church at home and really enjoys it. She came with us to the pentecostal church that my wife was raised in and has always thought it was boring and didnt believe in getting baptised by the holy spirit so being a typical teenager she joked about it. Well Sunday she went and a girl who is a regular asked her if she wanted to go up and get prayed for and she laughed at her and didnt go. She turned around and told me what had happened and it kind of made me mad but I told her if you feel you should go than go, if you dont feel it than dont go. Not a few seconds later she had her mouth covered I thought she was still laughing and I turned to look at her and she was crying. I asked her whats wrong and she replied she didnt know and couldnt stop crying. Needless to say she ended up at the altar and got the holy spirit that very night. She said she couldnt believe it happened to her and she kept hearing a man call her name over and over. I was standing not more than 5-8 feet away and so was my wife no one was calling her name that we heard. She has had a rough life living with her mom but she has always had a kind and honost soul, I am hoping this helps her in alot of ways where I and her mom have failed her. I know alot of people might scoff at this but I am soo happy it doesnt matter to me if any negativity comes this way. I know God has moved in her, softened her heart and hopefully will continue to if she stays to his word.

What a sweet and wonderful testimony! What a wonderful thing that you were able to see it unfold. Our God is an awesome God No matter what kind of church your in. I assume that in your church baptism means claiming Jesus Christ as your lord and savior. If so you got to see your child being saved and that is an awesome thing! Sounds like her church at home has build a strong foundation for her! What an awesome day for your family!

I am very happy for your daughter. I think in his own time and in his own way, the Lord works to bring each of us close to him, and I'm glad your daughter has heeded the call.

Thanks for the reply. I think she got a call in a big way to be changed form laughing to crying in a matter of moments is pretty extreme for her.

We as parents do the best we can for our kids. you haven't failed your daughter. Once they reach a certain age they can and do make their own choices. Even the kids that have the best homes and most caring parents make bad choices. Your daughter made a choice because of your example and I presume much praying. We as parents must pray for our children every day and pray continually every day. We must pray for every aspect of their lives.

Thanks for the reply. Very good one at that. We wont the best for our kids but that doesnt mean they will chose the best for themselves.

This is great. I hope now that your daughter continues to grow in the Lord. This is just my opinion - but I feel some credit is due you - you did not force your daughter - you did not deride her for not going with the other girl to be prayed for - you left it up to the Lord and he took over and succeeded where you might have failed. Good luck & God Bless.
