why people lie?

i have seen people lie unnecessarily with out any reason, why peopel lie, even to their close friends

Some people lie because they are afraid of what others will think if they tell the truth. Other people are just habitual liars. They lie for no reason at all. It has just become a habit and part of them. It is really sad.
