I bought a new laptop in April and twice since then it has corrupted the driver for my dvd drive. The first time I was afraid I had contracted a virus, so I went through and did a complete memory wipe abck to factory installed conditions. Within 24 hours it had corrupted again and the only things that had been added to the computer were Word (a legitimate purchased copy) and the driver for my printer. The computer read both of those disks and would not read the third disk I tried to install. Has anyone else had trouble with vista corrupting your drivers? What do you do?

at this time it's still not recommended to use Windows Vista. Vista has still more compatibility issue. i recommend for you roll back to using windows xp again for your laptop. I'll just wait for Microsoft to release service pack for windows vista before i buy and use vista. right now im using windows xp service pack 2 but i installed a windows vista transformation pack to have my PC a windows vista look.

I'd love toa void Vista too but it was the only thing available when I bought my new computer...I couldn't buy XP and my old computer, a desktop, had Windows 98....a totally unsecure program. In the meantime, my husband has also had to get a new computer and his new laptop is a 64 bit processor...no other os operates on 64 bits except vista, so we're kinda stuck.
