Would you know when a cat is pregnant?

There is a young stray cat that several neigbors feed. I noticed a few weeks ago that she was getting a belly on her. Having raised cats I know that cats as young as 6 months old can get pregnant and she is now 8 or 9 months old. I watched her getting bigger. I told the neigbor on one side of me that she was pregnant and they were stunned. Friday I noticed that the mucus plug was comming out and I knew within 24 hours she would have her kittens. Saturday evening after being gone all day I came home and one of the other neigbors asked if I had seen her. I told her that she was probably hiding having her kittens. She hadn't known the cat was pregnant. This is Sunday and this evening the cat came to me wanting food. Her belly was deflated so I knew she had had her kittens somewhere close by. I hope she will bring them out when they are old enough so I can play with them. I am guessing that she had 3 kittens.

I love cats since I was in grade school. I started to took care a kitten when my grandmother gave me one. I've seen her grow and also get pregnant so many times. I'm also taking care of her son growing each day.. I think you were right that a cat can be seen the enlargement of her belly when she's pregnant. Another one to make sure of it, try to slightly touch her belly if it's a little harder. The normal belly of a cat is soft to touch. But when she's pregnant, you can feel the tiny bones that lumps to her belly..That means that there's a living kittens inside..

Yes I know what a pregnant cats belly feels like. I had a cat that always loved to have her belly rubbed from the time she got pregnant till she had her kittens. When she went into labor she would come to me and I always had a box ready for her. She would want me to rub her belly between my hands hard until she delivered her kittens. I am just amazed that so many people don't know when cats are pregnant.
