When is the right time to deworm your child?

When is the right time to deworm your child or do you have to do it at all?

i have never dewormed or been told to deworm my child.

My child's pediatrician gave me a prescription to buy a deworming medicine or something when she turned 2. I bought it but I did not let her take it. I guess I am just scared.
