What is the healthiest diet you can be on?

As a vegan I consider that a vegan diet is the hatlhiest diet for me but I still need to watch my salt intakes and I still eat too many crips and fried foods. I was wondering what other people thought the healthiest diet whether you are actually sticking to that diet. I know I could be healthier and I can't explain why I eat unhealthy foods when I know other foods are better for me, it would be interesting to know if anyone knows why.

i would say a low fat healthy balanced diet with lots of water and fresh fruit and vegetables!! I like to eat unhealhy foods too, i think its just because we can, i mean we should not have to deprive ourselves after all we only get to live once, and its nice to indulge once in a while

Is it because of the taste of the foods that you like to eat them? or because you like to vary your diet?

I would say a true Mediterranean diet is the healthiest. You know - as they eat in Greece or some parts of Southern Spain and Italy. Loads of fresh fruit and vegetables, olive oil instead of any animals fats, hardly any red meat, and plenty of fish, which I admit is good for you althogh I don't eat it myself. Their diet also contains a lot of nuts for protein, and little or no pre-packed, frozen food, and only fresh vegetables and fruits when in season. It is the most natural diet I thinkm and has very few additives, e-numbers, or chemicals.

I think you are right about eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. The ones in the supermarket are far from fresh and probably have very few vitamins left in them by the time we eat them. I don't agree that fish is good for you. They do have some good vitamins and minerals but they can be gained from non-animal sources without all the chemicals that are put in with the fish to stop disease.

It is simple, when your body is craving for sweet, just eat fruit and stay away from other sweets...same principle is for everything else...listen to your body and give it healthy alternative... I stick easy to healthy vegetarian diet, but I am not vegan. I eat cheese and eggs, but I don't drink milk. I listen to my body and I keep healthy alternatives for everything. I change my diet often and I don't buy too much of one kind of food. Raw diet is my favorite and I shop for it 2ce a week....

I consider healthy diet for me, is to have less salt intake avoid sugar or sweet stuff. My coffee and tea are always taken with any form of sweetner. Avoiding fried food, like fried chicken, fish and etc. No areated water I try to keep to simple plain water. To top it all we have to do regular execrise.

I also have a vegan diet. I have heard that we vegans need to make sure we get enough vitamin B12, iron and omega. I think my diet does not have enough calcium. I get a great deal of vitamin c though. Eating fruit and vegetables gives me plenty of energy. I also watch my salt intake. If you like crisps you could try having some that don't have salt.

I think that an organic-vegan diet has got to be the healthiest diet around. It seriously limits the intake of pesticides, artificial hormones often found in milk and meat, and genetically modified foods. However, I am finding that it is a very difficult diet to be on, as most mock meats, mock cream cheese, etc., are vegan but are not organic. So, I have had a very hard time transitioning from organic vegetarian (no meat or fish but allowing organic milk and eggs) to organic veganism. What would you suggest as I try out this transition?

I think pure and fresh vegan diet is the healthiest diet for all and for all purposes. As we people take more abnormal food, health conditions also get problematic gradually. So vegan diet is the best choice for good and stable health. Thanks.
