I have a gas oven that really needs cleaning and I don't know how. I had a electric stove/oven for over 30 years before this and cleaning it never came up as it was a self-cleaning oven. I have a can of oven cleaner but it doesn't say anything on the back of the can about gas ovens, it just mentions electric ones. It just makes me nervous to spray something in there since I don't want to blow the place up. Anybody have any suggestions? Is there a specific kind of oven cleaner just for gas ovens?

Hmmmm! I am allowed nowhere near oven cleaner since I tried to clean our oven ( and did a great job) with no rubber gloves on! The oven sparkled but my hands were in a terrible mess for weeks - therefore I feel it would be extremely hypocritical for me to give any advice on oven cleaning! lol Hugs xxx

Its been years since I have had a gas oven, but Im sure that I just used normal oven cleaner, I cannot remember doing anything different. Just make sure that it is cleaned thoroughly and none left over and aired out properly, i do remember turning it on really hot for about 20 minutes though, just to get rid of the smell.

I hadn't even thought about this when I bought the can of oven cleaner a few days ago. I have a gas oven too. I guess I should think about these things too. Thanks for bringing this up.

I don't have a cast iron, wood burning stove so there's no need to clean it everyday.
