i watched this film when i was a child in school with my friends and cried my eyes out. i watched the new one last nite with my daughter and cried my eyes out again lol its so sad has anyone seen it?

I haven't seen the new one yet with dakota fanning in it. I was going to get it for my kids but wasn't sure if it was good. I remember watching the older movie a long time ago and i've read the book. i always liked the story. i guess i'll have to rent it and see if my kids like it enough to buy it.
