Do you have a pet that is diabetic? I have a Mini Pincher who has become diabetic after 9 years. At first i was mainly concerned about him getting the meds and care he need. But now i am just plain old tired. I think i need some incouragement to keep on giving him insulin two times a day. Not only that he has lost so much weight, i dont have anything to grab onto when it comes time for his shot. They say the bum area is not so good, as it takes longer to get into his system. Please help i am getting desperate. I dont want to put him down or give him up as he is a companion to my chiuchiua.

I know but i am so tired! they are using my patience up real fast. If he doesnt get his shot, he gets all pissy. I mean it. He pees every 30min or every hour on the hour. I dont know what i am gonna do, Its like i have no life. I gotta get up early so he can get it and make sure i be home by 7pm to get it again. I am frazzled and at wits end. And giving him up is not an option cuz of dora. The dog keeper hehahahaha

That poor baby! I can just imagine how much suffering you have done on his behalf since he was diagnosed. You know often times we have amazing and wonderful times with our pets and then others it's not so good. Having a pet is just like any other relationship. Just this week three of my kittens passed away within hours of each other. And, it was the most heart-breaking thing that I have ever been through, since my older brother passed over a decade ago. We don't get to choose when these things happen. It's not all roses and sunshine. I am sure that your little man appreciates all the help you have been providing him. He doesn't mean to be sick. And, he would never want to be away from his mommy. And I can't imagine that a stranger would put up with his medical condition too long before turning him into the pound. So, please be strong for him. You might try some of the things that humans with diabetes do. Humans with diabetes are often prescribed a diet consisting of five or more smaller meals daily, with lower carbs. This might work for a dog too. This keeps the blood sugar level. Foods high in fiber and protein, with lower fat and carbohydrates levels are more appropriate for a dog diagnosed with diabetes. Have his gums checked out as the illness can cause or lead to gum disease, making it harder for him to eat food. Some studies have suggested that humans can help regulate their blood sugar naturally with small doses of cinnamon. I am not sure if cinnamon is poisonous to dogs. But, if it is not, ask your vet if you could give him some. Here are some very useful links that I found on the subject of dogs and diabetes. http://www.pgaa.com/canine/health/diabetes.html http://www.canismajor.com/dog/diabetes.html http://www.petwellbeing.com/dog-diabetes-p70.cfm Best of luck. I hope you can find a solution that works well for your family.

Thank you so much, i been waiting days for your kind of comment! Your the best. yes my jake is still spry and jipper. Since the weight loss he can now jump on the bed. I do have to confess before the diabetes he was a ham. well he has always held the weight well. And now that he has taken off so much weight, he is actually the size he should be. But due to insulin shots, i would like to have a nice thin layer of meat around the bones. i need something to stick into. But i know he gets tired of it, but at the same time he is ready for his shots. he reminds me when its time. he knows the routine and everything. i just feel like i lost my freedom. Just when i was geting comfortable staying out after 5pm. Oh well he wont live forever and i guess just like those email says no one is here forever. i will just make the best of the time i have left with him! he knows i love him.
