Do you think that people can be possessed by ghosts?

I was wondering if you think that people can be possessed by ghosts like in the movie with Demi Moore and Patrick Swazie? Do you think that the only type of possession is evil or could someone be possessed to bring them comfort?

I'm a realist and an atheist so no I don't believe anyone can be possessed by ghosts or that they even exist. I personally think when I hear someone say that someone is possessed that no they are just crazy.

Does being an atheist rule out the posibilities of ghosts or just the realist part? Could ghosts be energy left over from decomposition?
