How do you stop an annoying neighbor?

I have a neighbor that is constantly wanting to borrow something. Or she's just bored and wants to drop by. How do you stop someone that is so annoying? I've tried not answering the door. I've tried not answering the phone.
Have you had an annoying neighbor? What did you do? What happened? Any suggestions would be great!

What does your neighbor do when you don't answer the door or the phone? O.o She doesn't keep bothering you does she?
When she comes over to hang out, tell her no. Tell her you are busy and you can't have company over right now. If you keep doing that maybe she'll take the hint. Tell her you can't always hang out, but you would enjoy the occasional lunch or something (IF that's true for you).

If she sees my car in the driveway, she keeps knocking. She even once came to the side window and started knocking on it in case I didn't hear her over the dog barking.

Oh my gosh! I would be so annoyied! I think you should def. tell her that you feel your personal boundaries are being crossed and she needs to let YOU make a date once and a while.

Other than being blunt and just telling them to go away, you could say you are busy and don't have time for visiting. Tell them you appreciate the thought but you just can't continue to be disturbed like this. Maybe that will work and is not worded so harshly. If everything fails, you just may have to be blunt! Good luck!

I might end up having to be blunt. Hate to her feelings but she's driving me nuts!

Why not just tell them you don't like them and you don't want them to bother you anymore. Trying to avoid them obviously is not working. Some people are incapable of taking a hint. Sometimes you just need to be blunt with them.

I'd love to blunt but I can't because we used to be friends when I moved into the neighborhood. But then I realized how annoying she was and don't like hanging with her. Plus, she's ALWAYS borrowing stuff.

Hi. JoyceP2007. Welcome to the club! I have a neighbor right now, that continues to come by even when I don't answer my door all of the time. He just can't take no or that I don't want to be bothered with him as a hint. So he will still come over. He will give us a break for only a few weeks, then he will be right back to where he has started from. I have been blunt with him and it still does not work at all. I don't know why he won't respect me. He knows that my husband will not tell him no, so he will continue to come over because he knows that my husband will say yes to him. With me, it is always an no. Simple as that.
