Ok. I have a decent paying job, that I am totally bored with. I mean, I am thankful to have a job, but I would love to be happy to get up in the morning and know that I am going to have a fulfilled day at work. So my question is... What do I do? Do I quit? NOT!!! Got to pay the bills... well any suggestions???

there are personality tests that can pinpoint the type of career that would suit you bset. once you find out what you want to do, thats half the battle. all you have to do from there is make small goals toward that career. Like the lady above said: take classes, on the job training, internet research, with the internet its easy to learn anything! Good luck!

Thanks sergeantrom: I will look for one of those test. I guess the problem too is that I am not sure what I really would like to do. I have different talents and things in mind, but I don't want to be "a jack of all trades and a master of none". I want to master one thing. I will take one of those test and see what they concur is the best road for me to take and see if it works out. Thanks so much and best of luck to you to.

Youre welcome! There might be a job out there designed just for you that you never even thought of. Thats what those tests do. Take care!!!

I know how you feel, I am in the same situation. I am so sick of working, that I can't see straight, but my husband si not dependable and can't keep a job, so it's left up to me. If you want to pay your bills and live, you can't very well quit. Maybe you could continue to look for another job while you work there.

Hi Brenda: I seemed to alwyas have had to be in the position of not having the luxury of quitting a job and having someone take care of me. I am right there with you. But, I will be realistic and stay my butt right here until I finish with my degree unless something better comes along before then. Thanks so much for your comment!

Oh honey, I feel your pain. I am so tired of my job. I am bored with it too. I am constantly looking for something new and nothing in my field in my city is available. I would have to move and I'm not ready to do that. I don't have any advice for you because I'm going through the same thing. I know what you mean about wanting to feel fulfilled. I'm thinking I might just go back to waiting tables like i did in college. At least the money was good!

Thanks Nicolec! It is good to know I am not alone. I thank you so much for your comment. I have been looking too, but nothing that I want to do there either. I don't want to leave one job I hate in order to get another job I hate. Thanks again! and best of luck to you on your quest!!!

I understand how you feel Only1Andrea, I feel like this too about my job but I know that I cannot just up and quit. I love the kind of work that I do but the place that I work at has no growth potential. What I am doing right now is taking more classes with educational release time. I am going to stay at the job for the next year and then start my search. I can make more money elsewhere because I am constantly learning on my job. I go to workshops and do everything I can to enhance the skills that I have. I would say to you that you need to set a goal, a time frame and go for it. I want to be happy feel good about my day everyday. But we must plan for it. Sit down and walk yourself through it, you will find your own solution and I live with the thought that when it is meant to be, it will happen. I wish you all the best. I will say a prayer for you everyday and hope that you will find what makes you happy. Take care and know that this was a great discussion, that is my opinion...

Wow tsgirl01!! That was a great response. THANK YOU! You are so right. I am trying to learn new things on my job too, but I really don't want to be in this field anymore. I am taking courses online for my AA in Business. I have to sit down and think of what my next step will be when I obtain my degree. You have a lot of wisdom and I thank you for sharing some of it with me. I know that I am very impatient at times, but I don't plan well, I don't think plan through and I am problematic with being consistent with what I do plan. Thank you again. You have given me alot to think about. I appreciate it and I definitely appreciate your prayers and you will be in mine also. Take care and God bless!!!

i say dont. i think you said it all when you say you got to pay the bills! i say before in other discussion, happiness is an attitude, you're lucky you have a job, make the most out of it, will yourself out of boredom, the more you think your job is boring, the more you want out, think of something that you love about your job before, your co-workers maybe...

Thanks sharonercastillo: You are right happiness is an attitude. I am going to have to muster up a whole lot of will power in order to get out of boredom here. Although, I do thank God everyday for having a job and a way to pay my bills - well most of my bills anyways. Thanks for your comment. Makes a lot of sense, especially since I can't do anything about it right now.

I would start looking for another job that pays as well as the one you have now. I have been in jobs that I hate and it makes for a very miserable day. I have stayed on only because I need the money. But when in those situations it becomes my #1 hobby to search for a new place of employment.

Thanks sid556: I will be looking. I think that I really don't want just another job. Maybe starting my own business would be a good idea if I go in the right direction with it. Thanks for your comment.
