loudly arguing in public

have you ever had an argument with someone in public? and i do mean a heated argument when people get to stare at you. if you have, did you desperately wanted to win as to not embarrass yourself? i have.. and it was really embarrassing, but at that time i was really angry that i did not care. somehow, with everybody staring at me, i wanted to win that argument as to not embarrass myself. the person whom i argued with wanted the same so she tried insulting me. and there, we insulted each other until an elderly woman told us to shut the hell up. after that, i really felt bad because i see no point in trying to win an argument just because everyone was watching and listening.

in the first place its not proper for any decent person to argue in public especially a heated one. you can always do it in private away from the prying eyes of the public in general.

you're probably right. it's better to practice self-control. but hey, let me give you a situation where you can't avoid to argue in public. say, an angry person shouts that you stole something in public and insists that you're a common thief - then everyone's looking at you. you get offended. won't you argue with him infront of many people?

so that's why we have to practice self control to avoid incidents like this happen.

I never do that, just because I'm a kind of people Who don't like argue with others outside. I found out that argueing only make me feel shame in public.

Hi there. No I havent had a heated argument in a public place let alone a plain old argument in public. And I wouldnt let myself either... I would pull them aside and talk calmly to them, so that I dont draw attention to myself, especially negative attention, something we can all do without...

but that's hard to do, putting a person aside to argue with him/her, especially when the person is in rage or going berserk.. unless you get to argue with a civil person, i guess it's alright. :)

I am not really big on arguing in public, to me it seems ignorant and childish. I try to avoid making a public spectical of myself whenever possible. I have sadlly been pulled into a few arguments that I couldn't avoid. I tried my hardest to not argue in public and move the argument to a private area or wait till we were alone to discuss the problem. I don't care about winning or what have you I just don't find it appropriate behavior to fight or argue in public.

hi! i never had any arguments in public and i dont want that to happen ever. all i do is to talk to that person privately without catching attention from anyone, coz it's too embarrassing.

but what happens if the argument starts in a public area - like what happened to me? i don't think you have much time in pulling the person to a private room to continue the argument, right? unless you choose to ignore the person. :)

I have had a few occassions where I end up being loud in an argument in public. But when I get that upset, I don't really notice who is around me. My only concern is getting my words in for the argument. Afterwards, I'm always so embarrassed.

arguing - arguments should be made elsewhere. not in public.
Yes, I can understand that. I don't like arguing in public anymore because it's really embarrassing. It's better to settle your arguments elsewhere.
