Dubai's Palm Islands... possible summer home.

I've been in love with the whole Palm Islands since I saw how it was made on tv a year or two ago. Of course it was way, way, way too expensive for me to even dare of dreaming about. Well me and the boyfriend were talking about it and there is a phase of homes & villas that are still being built and should be done anywhere from 2008-2009. Which isn't long really, 1-2 yrs from now. Mainly because he's really been a jacka** this past week, he agreed that we can do this as a summer home! However it will be closer to 2009 than 2008 but I'm ok with that since we'll probly get married next year and be buying a house, so by 2009 we should be settled and won't have the huge burden of just having bought a house. The good thing is that because of the exchange rate, we can get a $2 million beach front island property for less than $800,000 USD. I know that's still expensive however (long story short) by then we can cover it no problem. I've researched it and am so in love with the idea. I've always admired the Indian culture. So my question really is, has anyone been to the Palm Islands? If you are from the area, is it investment worthy. It looks to be quite amazing, it's like Las Vegas on an island!
