Dubai's Palm Islands... possible summer home.

I've been in love with the whole Palm Islands since I saw how it was made on tv a year or two ago. Of course it was way, way, way too expensive for me to even dare of dreaming about. Well me and the boyfriend were talking about it and there is a phase of homes & villas that are still being built and should be done anywhere from 2008-2009. Which isn't long really, 1-2 yrs from now. Mainly because he's really been a jacka** this past week, he agreed that we can do this as a summer home! However it will be closer to 2009 than 2008 but I'm ok with that since we'll probly get married next year and be buying a house, so by 2009 we should be settled and won't have the huge burden of just having bought a house. The good thing is that because of the exchange rate, we can get a $2 million beach front island property for less than $800,000 USD. I know that's still expensive however (long story short) by then we can cover it no problem. I've researched it and am so in love with the idea. I've always admired the Indian culture. So my question really is, has anyone been to the Palm Islands? If you are from the area, is it investment worthy. It looks to be quite amazing, it's like Las Vegas on an island! Take a peak... www.palmsales.ca , www.greenpointestate.com

This really does sound exciting and really nice. I hope it works out for you guys. I dream of living in dubai as well. It is stunningly beautiful there! Good luck with the plans, and I hope it all works out the way you dream of it to be.

Thanks so much! Have you been to dubai? I've never been but looking at it just feels right, I bet it would be like my own little piece of heaven. I hope it works too!

No unfortunately not! I have never been there but I would love to go there someday, Dubai and Australia are the two places that I would most like to visit in my life time. But we will have to see what the future holds. Then I want to go to New Zealand just to watch a test match in Rugby, the all blacks against the South African Springboks. I just want to experience that live for just one time. Those are my three dreams...

Sounds great! I always wanted to go to Australlia until my ex decided that moving 5,000 miles away to work with models and live on the beach was a cool way to avoid commitment the month I was supposed to move in with him. It worked, commitment totally avoided. But it also ruined Australlia for me, I couldn't go there w/out bringing up all those past hurt feelings. I hope he gets kicked in the head by a kangaroo and a dingo eats his laptop, lol. I've always wanted to go to Italy too, if the Dubai thing doesn't work that's my second choice.
