I know that it is hot in the kitchen and everyone is grilling out but we still need something to snack on in the evening time. Right? This is a wonderful easy recipe. It is easy to make and you probably have all the ingredients in your pantry right now. It is great for snacking on with a glass of milk or for those long boring road trips with the kids. If you love Chocolate and Oatmeal, you will just devour this cookie. I am getting ready to make them right now for my husbands lunch bucket. Anyone that has to work outside in this heat deserves a treat. These are so much more tasty than those commercial cookies and much better for your family. I hope you enjoy them. Double Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies 1 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup butter or margarine, softened 1/4 cup water 1 tsp. vanilla 1 egg 3 c. quick-cooking oats (I have used the old fashioned oats with good results) 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour 2/3 cup cocoa 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix sugar, margarine, water, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10 - 12 minutes, until almost no indentation remains when touched. Immediately remove from cookie sheets. Makes about 6 dozen cookies

They sound good to me. My grandson is a cookie monster, so I try to keep him supplied with cookies. I will make a big batch and keep the dough in the fridge. Then each day I will bake a couple of trays. He is 2 yrs. old, he knows when I have cookie dough in the fridge. He will give me a certain grin and ask me so sweetly for cookies.

Double Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies - Don't these look great. Soo fattening but good.
Thanks for this wonderful recipe. You are right it is too hot in the kitchen to cook so we grill a big batch of food on the weekends then we just reheat it during the week in the microwave. It sure beats sitting over the stove burning up and for snacks at night we have homemade ice cream. I will keep this recipe so that I can make it when my husband has to start traveling again. I can send them with him so he can have snacks. Thanks for this wonderful recipe. Take care and have a great day.

Mmmmm.. those sound good! I have an electric oven in the garage so I can bake without heating up the house. I know what I'm going to be doing this afternoon! Thank you

Sounds like a winner to me! You know I love chocolate. But, making a cookie that is more healthy is important to me too. Eating oatmeal is a great way to increase bulk in your diet. What a perfect combination of ingredients.

Sounds yummy and thanks for the recipe! I don't think I'll be making these anytime soon since hubby is diabetic though.

You are quite right, I do have all those ingredients in my house. I wish I hadn't seen yor discussion. I love this kind of biscuit. Even my daughter could follow the recipe. But should I bake them? NO! Because if thjey are in the house, I will eat them quickly. I have no self control over biscuits like this. I am on a diet, supposedly. But it's a great recipe, & worth me keeping for my daughter to practise on. Thank You.
