I have several pages of typewritten notes that I want to put on my family tree, without typing everything. Would voice software be the way to go?

If it's written neatly enough, you could scan it. There are also some image-to-text programs that will take your scans and do it's best to translate it into text. This is method used by e-book programs like Distributed Proofreaders :D
