Painting The Walls - What color would you paint your walls?

For me I would like the chance to be able to paint our walls other than just having them plain old off white walls. Because we don't own the apartment, we are not allowed to paint our walls. I wish we could though, it would add so much more depth to the house and personality too. What's one major change you would like to make in your home?

We need to finish painting. We started the entryway and up the stairs now I just need to finish it. Our bedroom could use some paint also. It has this wallpaper that is just not right. And the bathroom needs painting also. I don't know where they got their wallpaper but it just isn't right. We are renting but are allowed to paint, wallpaper, and tile if we choose too. Our tile needs to be changed also. The owner will pay for that. I would like to change the carpeting. I may ask my landlord if this is a possiblity. They are very open to suggestions. Okay, there are alot of major changes needed in this house. LOL..

The entry way and the walls going upstairs are burgundy. I haven't chosen what I want for trim. Green goes with burgundy but my son says it will look like Christmas all the time. My dining room I want to use Green. Not sure about the others yet.

I would like to say the freeloader and his boyfriend need to be removed from my home, but thats a whole different discussion...I would have to say I need to do some serious painting in here...some of the walls due to smoking and clumsy friends are two and three different colors...

oh see they are the reason for all the damages in here anyway...so they would have to learn how to paint, spackle, replace boards in the wood floors, and even fix closet doors so I would rather them gone..that would just prolong their stay...

I would like to have an extra room just for my office, instead of having it in my bedroom.

There is so much I would like to change in our condo! We bought it under the impression that everything was recently updated. Some guy who owned the condo before us did a lot of changes but couldn't afford to pay the bills, so it foreclosed on him. Someone else bought the foreclosure, painted the walls and put on new carpet and then he sold it to us. It looked great and we thought we got a good deal. A few months later we realized there was a huge mold problem. The guy who fixed it up slapped a bunch of nice tile up to cover up the problem. We're finally getting that taken care of courtesty of the 4th floor because it was all caused by a leak in their unit which they refused to fix...still is, but the association is going to force entry and have them fix it. The "new" washer and dyer were old and barely work. But we're getting both of those replaced because a friend works as a maintence man in an apartment building. They are replacing all their units 3 year old washers and dryers. So although they aren't brand new, they're good enough for me and they're free. Yay! Next, I'd like to replace the entire kitchen. The cabinets are gross and the microwave heats the plates not the food. I'd also like to paint the walls! Just by adding paint it would make such a differnce! I'd like to do red, but I've heard how much it takes to do it that color...we're rethinking that idea! haha. We really grateful how much is gone to be done free of cost to us because of poor maintence on others parts! But still we want to be able to do as much as we can for resale!

Thanks for the best response. Free stuff is always nice! We just got our washer and dryer and are so thankful that we don't hear the "eek, eek, eek, shriek, shriek, shriek" of the dryer anymore! But now my son makes up for the eeking and shrieking of the dryer with his noises, lol! :)

Add more space! Talk about major change. My home is actually for sale right now (for many reasons). One is that we have only one living space, the family room, and it is small. This is keeping us from selling our house.

I would like to replace the carpet in my house. However I live in post housing, so we are not allowed to do anything like that. We have lived here for 6 years though and the carpet is really gross. it has stains (they were here when we moved in) and it stinks unless i vacuum every single day. And it is the ugliest color. Oh well, geuss i will have to live with it.

Our carpet was quite nice when we moved in and now, ummmm lets just hope our landlord doesn't pay us a surprise visit. I really need to get them cleaned as I'm sure it was a nice light creamy brown color, and it seems that it is now a greyish kind of color LOL yup its bad. I hired the rugdoctor and cleaned it once and it worked wonders and now only after 6-7 months, its back to what it was before. Just as well we are able to buy cheap rugs to try to cover them up. Thanks for responding rahallahan

I agree with you color really helps does bring out your home. If I could make one change in our home it would be to move the house back away from the street more.LOL I know its not possible but I would think it would make it alot more private and less noisey.LOL I have plenty of land in the back thats all trees so it would great!

Oh wouldn't that be nice since you have the backyard already. Or even build a bedsit or something so if you need space, that can be somewhere you could go to :)

We are on the same thoughts about this, but my idea of doing something major in our house (if ever), is a second-story for our every rooms and a nice hot and cold shower with a tub!;) I believe that home is a place to be happy, have fun, to rest and also to relax. As we work all day, we need time to take care of such things in our home. We really need to have something for us to enjoy, right in the comfort of our own house. To have something more relaxing like a flower bath on a tub, like an aroma therapy helps pamper our tired body and get rejuvenated as another day sets for us to deal with..

Oh, I am actually planning on to do some changes around my house. Nothing major just a few things to make my house look exciting once more. I've been holding off the idea of plastering my wall with some nice wallpaper. It used to be really white but now, it had reduced to a dirty white, LOL. I might go ahead with my plan since my house is kind of boring to look at now. I always like to see new surrounding on the place I live. :)

LOL, I assured she is pretty harmless. I called her my little sis. I can understand what you're feeling seeing our almost identical usernames. Many of my other friends had the same reaction too. I posted one discussion regarding this before. :)

I just had someone post on one of my other discussions and her name was "mycharms88" I was like, is that bunny? then i checked her page and I was like hmmm, bunny has a stalker maybe? LOL that is weird! Our apartment is boring too and I don't have any sense of colors of what matches and all i see is white walls, and lots of dark brown i.e seat covers, mats, rugs and dining table. It is very boring and hoping fingers crossed that my husband will keep his promise about buying a new lounge suite. Thanks bunny!

I would love to build an extension to make the kitchen bigger and have an extra bedroom and shower room! I know that seems like more than one and that I am cheating but it really is all tangled up in one! lol I only wish I could afford to do that! xxx

We need to repaint the whole apartment as we have been living there for than 4 years. But my hubby always says it is still in a good condition that doesn’t need to be painted yet. For me, I am too busy with work and housework that I don’t have extra time to do it. So I only can hope next summer we can hire the painter to do the work while I can take some time off to do the cleaning.

We have small 6 rooms. I want to convert them into big rooms. But it will cost a lot. I can not afford to do so. I wish I could do that. I have a basement but I do not like it.

I am renting a house now. I haven't bought my own house yet. The house I am living now is quite cozy and large, with wide land surrounding the house. It is approximately 1 acre wide. I love this house, and maybe I would buy it if the landlord offered to sell it. If this house is going to be mine, I would enlarge the living room. I would add another garage and build a small fish pond inside the house. I would build a small swimming pool too, so that my family and friends can enjoy themselves when they come over.

I would build an upstairs and include a library, office, and a school room along with a larger bedroom for my youngest child. I would like to repaint my kitchen too but that would be after the upstairs. After all of those repairs, I would add a bay window to the living room as it needs to look bigger!!

it's a shame they don't let you paint the walls. I'm sure the value of the apartment will go up with nice newly painted walls. perhaps you could check with your landlord? if the colour scheme is something that he likes, perhaps he'll let you go ahead. one major change I'd like to make is to make the bathroom more spacious! i suppose that will involve all sorts of complications, so I'll have to make do with nice hotel toilets for now.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask. We have put up some African woven or printed materials on our walls (sorry forgot the name of them) to cover up the bare space and they actually look quite nice. Adds a bit of culture and color too.

I need a new kitchen! My hubby started redoing the cabinets about 3 years ago, but he stopped and started another project and never has finished the kitchen. I think alot of men are that way...lol Then the diningroom needs repainted and new border put on and the bathroom needs redone also. My list is actually endless!

I would like to get rid of the carpets and put down wood or tile instead. THe carpets get filthy, and I haven't found a vacuum cleaner that doesn't break down within a year!
