With the high cost of health care I was interested to see how many people have insurance and is it worth the cost.

Sadly enough I lost my insureance when I turned 23. I was on my dad's plan and when I reached that age I guess they figured I was too old for it. So now I don't have any.

I still go to the doctor, but I just have to pay out of my pocket.

Do you barter with the doctor to get a cash rate?

Yeah well we make too much now. We use to get everything for free through New York state when we weren't making as much. My husband has no insurance at all, we can't really afford to cover him, but he never gets sick. NY paid for my gall bladder opperation at least. My husband can go to the military doctors when he is on duty. He's actually reserves but he works a lot of mandays, so we can't get insurance throught them. I think they should offer something to all reservist and their families. My medical bills are killing us. It would be more worth it to make less money.

We have pretty good insurance through my husband's work. We pay about $50 a month for all of it (for 6 people) and about another $25 for the extra dental and vision coverage. We also get free mental health and chemical dependency coverage (so if you need rehab or something). We are on an HMO program now so we just pay $15 for office visits. We chose that plan because we had a baby this year and shots are expensive. Before we had a PPO which was nice but the raised the deductible to $300 per person, I think, which gets expensive. We have been very lucky with our insurance. The only problem we had was a few years ago the company had a falling out with the company that ran the hospital we went to. So they stopped accepting our insurance, along with all of their doctors. So I lost my OB/GYN that I had for 3 years (they delivered 2 of my children). We were lucky enough, though, that our kids pediatrician also worked out of another hospital and still accepted our insurance.

I will have Medical Insurance thru where I work in about 1 week from where I work. The nice thing is since I dispatch for a Taxi company, they pay the Premuim out of their own pocket for us to have it. I have heard it is not bad insurance also.
