Most of us believe that Jesus has a long hair. Do you think it is true? 1Corinthians 11:14 "Does not even nature itself teach you that of a man has a long hair, it is a dishonor to him." What is view with regards to this quote?

It depends on your point of veiw From Pauls point of veiw Long hear is the covering of a woman, But you must also remember Paul lived among the Romans, and both Roman and the Greeks cut their (men) hair short. But jewish tradition they did not cut their hair this way. Jesus lived mainly in the Gallalean sea area which was very Greek in traditions. I don't beleive it realy matters one way or the other.

No it realy doesn't matter how someone may want to depect Jesus, becouse it's not his image that we prey to. If the image of Christ is so emportant to you the only description give of him is in revalation 1:14 his head and hair was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire, his feet were like bronz blazing in a furnace. So it doesn't matter what we want to picture him as becouse it is not a matter of salvation that we are right. It only matters to those who want to try to find something to dissagree with and couse devision. Why is it so emportant to you what the "real" image of Jesus is? Will it make one shread of difference to you? No it is only something you throw out for someone to stumble on. No where in the scriptures does it say Christ looked like this, It does say in Phalms about him that no beauty was found in him. Or maybe the discription you seek is that of him bleeding after being ripped apart by a Roman whip, unrecanizable as human, and thorns pushed deep into his brow and nails in his hands and feet with a gapeing spear wound in his side. Maybe the image you would like is that of him beaten to a bloody pulp that not even his mother could reconise?

No, it really matter. And it is clearly stated in the bible. If it's just Paul's point of view then there is no reason for me to believe in the bible.

The question of Jesus's image to me is immaterial, what did he stand for-was he preoccupied with colour or racial background? Did he welcome mankind or only the Jews to the kingdom of God? If the answers to these questions are no, then Jesus probably looked like an Ethiopian, this should not matter to a Christian, what matters is what indeed he taught to the whole world!

It still matter, there are few details that discribes Jesus image in the bible, there are some religion who does not based on the bible. They just made a picture based on their own perception without reffering the bible. It falls on wrong belief. I'll post the Chapters that discribes Jesus.

I agree with academic2. Reflecting back to my post above, it is based on your focus; focus on His teachings and the lifestyle He lived. If anybody still doesn't feel comfortable, read the bible (if you have a Bible digitally on your computer than you can search it much more effectively:CTRL F), and try to figure out from there, but again put His teachings first and before His actual physical appearance.

The bible doesn't really tell us what Jesus looked like. Most of the pictures we see of Jesus with long hair came out of the Renaissance of the 1400's and 1500's, those artist didn't see Jesus to know what he looked like. They just painted from their imagination. They also painted him as looking more European than Middle Eastern which is what he was. I don't know if 1Corinthians would have applied to Jesus since that law was written after his lifetime on earth. But the bible does say there was no sin in him - so if having long hair truly is a sin then he didn't have long hair.

Ya you're right, it is clear and it is purely stated there. But why is it most of us stil believe and keep on believing that Jesus has a long hair? Are they not going to change their belief? If they are christian, they must follow the bible whatever it says.

I really don't know about the length of his hair, but doesn't it say something about a Nazerine and not taking a razor to their head? Maybe that meant that some men shaved their head, but the Nazerine only cut it?

It is being specified that if a man has a long hair, it is a dishonor in him. Because at that time, only women are allowed to have long hair (1 Cor. 11:15). "If a woman has a long hair, it is a glory to her."

For me, I do not believe because it is stated there that man must have short hair. I don't think other religion is not aware of this specially those who manage the church. But why is it they just ignore it?
