What is your most annoying experience with road construction?

I have never really enjoyed dealing with road construction, but I have always felt it was a necessary evil. After all, we need good roads to drive on. But last night was ridiculous. I have an insomnia problem anyway, and I finally fell asleep around 11:00. Then at 2:00 a.m. I was rudely awakened by flashing lights, back-up beeping noises, and the sound of gravel being dumped on the road. They were working on the road in the dark! We live in the country, so there are not any streetlights even. Now, I have to wonder how good of a job they could be doing in the dark to begin with, and I was very unhappy at having my sleep disturbed. Every time I started to doze off again, they were back in front of my house. I finally got up at 4:00 a.m. (my usual time) and they are still out there. I am not even sure who one complains to about road construction - does anyone know?
