Moving vehicles as a trigger

Growing up I suffered from motion sickness. Or at least, it got labeled as motion sickness. I would occasionally get into a car, get headachy, and well threw up after I couldn't handle it no more. I tried all the motion sickness medicines I could get my hands on. They all made it worse. It wasn't until eight years ago that I found myself wondering what was really going on. I got to the stage where I would still be headachy and nauseous two weeks later. Then one day, I had a migraine--tunnel vision, the whole nine yards. I took some over the counter pills for it to clear up the migraine. That night I had to get into a car because the lodge meeting I was attending had its meeting spot changed at the last second. And I noticed that it wasn't as bad as normal. At that point, I started to take over the counter migraine medicine for my motion sickness, which I have had the most success with so far. So can moving vehicles be a trigger for migraines? And if so, what medicine is best for coping with that type? Thanks.

I went blind due to a chronic ailment that i have and spent nearly a year that way before surgery fixed it, this is the only time that i have experienced motion sickness in a car. With the not being able to see,it felt like moving in a constant circle. So I would vote yes, that it could cause your migraines, i think diffrent people can reacy quite differently to similar stimulus.

I used to get migraines quite often when driving. I still do, but not nearly as often. I am now taking a couple of medications to help prevent my migraines and they are helping to reduce the frequency and severity of the migraines. I take Topamax and Depakote as preventatives. I also take Imitrex when I get a migraine. The over the counter medication that works best for me is Motrin. Excedrin works well for the headaches, but my stomach can't tolerate it.
