I was experiencing tachycardia every evening for quite a while. It was very strange; it would start after I had laid down for a while and would wake me up if I was dozing off. Then I went on vacation, and it hasn't happened since I went back to work (about six days ago). I have done a little bit of research but I was wondering if anyone knows what causes tachycardia and if it is always dangerous. My resting heart rate always tends to be a bit hight, but even when the tachycardia is going on my blood pressure is not high. Ideas anyone?

Tachycardia is the abnormal beat of heart beat 100 beats a minute in an adult patient.Tachycardia could be normal physiological response to stress.
If the heart beats fast to an extended period of time and when you are resting then there is a problem between the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide. The faster the heart beats the more amount of oxyegn it requires so it uses up the more amount of oxygen thus bringing disbalance in the oxygen and co2 amounts in heart and bringing to angina.

I have never heard of this, I will read to see what everyone else is saying, I suppose it has to do with the heart?

I have had trouble with tachycardia since I was 12 and I am now 43. I take medication for it. There are many causes for it. I know too much caffeine is one of the top causes, but it could be something wrong with the "wiring" of your heart. I think it would be a good idea to have it checked out. It could be nothing but it can't hurt to ask a doctor.
