I have been homeless for a short period. Me and my children lived in the shelter than moved in with a friend of mines. I got out of that situation with help from my friend. I had found a job and she agreed to watch my kids as long as I needed. I did alot of over time to get up enough money to move in my own place. That took me only a month and a half. I worked a lot of 16 hour shifts at least three to four times a week. I made enough money to pay the required down payment on my place and also byuy beds and things needed for my apartment. I know that feeling of not having your own and if I had the ability to help homeless people by owning a shelter I would love that.

Yes, I gotten divorce and my family took his side and said stay away. I went to college and lived in a dorm, but inbetween quarters I ate in soup kitchens and slept in my car or in the shelter if the weather was bad. In the fture when I was out of work, I did the same thing again, but when I had a full time job I always paid back the organizations whoi helped me by donating my time or through monetary donations which I still do today.

i'd be homeless for two days this week. our house got infested with termites and we need to have it treated, so we're evacuating. but then, this is not the kind of "homeless" you mean, right? lol!

Right! I mean absolutely without a home or a roof of someone's home over your head. Sleeping in a car, shelter, or outdoors type of homeless is what I'm referring to.

I flee domestic violence many years ago with just my kids. I ended up in a refuge. I was determined then to get on my feet and never look back. and I did. I now own my own home and another.

Wow, I admire your strength and determination! How did you do it? Did you get good help at the refuge? Did you go back to school? Please share.
