i have a 15 year old daughter who spends more than an hour on a shower/bath... always. does this happen to other teenagers you know as well? i wasn't like this when i was her age. nobody in my family is like this. i think an hour is too much.

Even though we think an hour or more is too much, that doesn't seem to be the case with young teen girls now. My daughter is the same way. Not only while taking a shower either. She never goes into the bathroom for less then five minutes at a time or more. Drives me insane so I feel for you. You need to set limits though or your water bill is going to go through the roof! Good luck

if she has long straight hair, i may know what's keeping her in the bathroom that long. it's usually the hair that gets a lot of time to do when you want it soft, shiny and straight always. i used to have a very long (almost to my waistline) straight hair before which i wash and condition everyday during those days. it consumes a lot of time, shampoo and conditioner. :) so if it's posing a problem for you. ask her to shorten her hair.

my daughter would kill me if i ask her to shorten her long straight hair. yes, you are right, it's the hair that's keeping her showers long.

I was like your daughter, when I was a teenager and at that time I really did feel that it was necessary. Nowadays I limit my time in the bathroom to 30 minutes because I have to kids making trouble, if they can. I have to say in your daughters defense though, that using conditioner, shampoo, hairtreatment, facial wash and shaving can take up some time. Does your daughter spend all of the time with the water running, or just in the bathroom. If she spends all her time with the water running, I think you should have a talk with her and try to cut it down to max. 30 minutes. However, if she just spends the time in the bathroom, there is not much to do. Maybe you can get her a little beauty table with a large mirror in her room, so that she can some of the time there, instead of taking over the bathroom.

i told her to limit the water use already and she did. but she could not shorten her bathroom use time however much we tried telling her.

My 10 year old daughter spends more than 30 minutes(with much reprimands to move faster from the family) to take a bath during school days and almost an hour or more during weekends. I can't imagine how long she's going to spend on the shower once she becomes an actual teenager. LOL..Anyway, we're working on this right now by teaching her to move faster.
