OOOPS - has this happened to you?

I did a bad thing, without intending to, back when I was a newbie. I responded to a discussion, I was the first, and I gave a rippingly funny response. I found this discussion again today while I was looking for something else, and I was surprised to see only one other response, a comment to my joke along the lines of "rotflmao!" It was a good topic, I couldn't understand why no one took it up, until it hit me.... they read the joke and forgot the serious stuff they were going to say! I killed the poor guy's discussion!
He went inactive soon after, anyway, but, wow, I never thought of this before! In comedy, they say timing is everything. Guess I should remember that next time I'm the first one to respond to something!

Oh my, if anything I regret it is the discussions I started. I was seriously trying to start a fun conversation and I felt like I got attacked.. (Sometimes I wish I could delete something I wrote.)

Oh, dear, you poor thing! Try not to take it too much to heart, sometimes folks write exactly what they would say out loud. They don't get that, without a facial expression to convey additional shades of meaning, some things are really harsh.
Of course, some folks are just buttcakes, too. In the long run, the good people here outweigh the downers by a wide margin (by being good people, of course, not because they munch nonstop while posting... although they may!) Enjoy your friends, and let the rest slide. It'll be worth it!

I did not make a funny remark, but I was telling a woman that I was for adult stem cell research and against embyro stem research. I forgot to insert the against. I had to write another post.

lol - honey I used to think I was a discussion killer and that people avoided posts cos I was the only one to respond! I am afraid that I would say as long as you answer truthfully then a bit of humour can only be good! Stop worrying so much - as the saying goes - don't sweat the small stuff! xxx
