how often do you do things as a whole family. with the busy lives we all lead today, how often do you do things all together as a family. i know that i should do more with my children, but i am so not the outside type. I was thinking that i should do something with my two younger children before the summer was over. so i wanted to know how often do you do family things, and if not as often as you would like how do you get over feeling bad for not doing so?

We try to go things as a family at least once a week or once every other week. Just last weekend we had a little family outing. We went to visit a nearby cave. It was our first time taking our daughter to a cave and she loved it. We have a lot of fun as a family so we try to do things as often as we can.

Lucky for you! Even if all of you are busy, you still find time to have family outing or gathering maybe. I am 30 years old now, I can never remember that we have one as a whole family alone. There is one instance that we went to the church but with lots of friend of my father. You see we never enjoy it as a family like you do!

We usually do family things in the weekends, maybe a movie, dining out on fast foods, walk and play at the park, bike ride or even just sitting in front of the tv watching a family movie and munching out on junk food.

We go camping just about every weekend. We have a camper at a campground. That way we are away from the TV, video games, and phone. My oldest son does alot with his friends but we still get alot of family time.

What about the zoo or a nature center? What about a state park just for a hike or the beach, no camping. Museum or even the park. We do family outings about every week or two. We go blueberry picking in the summer, pick apples and pumpkins in the fall. We go to the park as often as we can. We enjoy camping so we do that several times during the summer and fall. We also go to the zoo and the museums and other cultural things. We also try to do a play once a year, ballet, concert or the symphony. I don't work so that makes it easier to plan only around my husbands schedule. I also tend to be pretty spontaneous and in the summer we will go to the different festivals in the area. Greek Fest, Blues Fest, Renaissance Festival, Summer Fest, etc...There are so many opportunities that are not that expensive, at least where we live.

I lived in CT and worked in NYC but I still managed to go apple picking in the fall. Its not far from the city either. Check out a website called LocalHarvest.org or do a web search for an apple orchard near NYC or even in CT. Good Luck!

Well I am not an outside person myself but I don't let that stop me from doing things with my children, I got things that we can do as a family at home, I have two little girls so I bought latchooks, paint by numbers, board games things like this we can do together without going anywhere. I take them to see all the new kids movies and one amusement park a summer. I started out with the small ones now that they are a little older I will take them to a bigger one. I learned they love the time you spend more then where you go.

you are right about that. it is not what you do or where you go, it's the togetherness that's important. i have to remember that and start doing it too. thanks for reminding me girl

My husband and I try to take my daughter out at least on the weekends. If I only have a half day at work and its nice outside, we go to the park and walk on the bike bath. We also sit on a blanket in the grass by the river, and she just LAUGHS at the ducks walking by,

My fiance's son came out to visit us for the summer. He only has a single-cab pick-up truck, and it's a bit of a challenge for the three of us to ride in it, but we manage. We have a lot of fun going to all kinds of places in the Sedona Arizona area.

Every week- My daughter is 10- and boy is time flying right by- I want to cherish this time with her- We have been to the amusement park twice- to Niagara Falls for 3 nights on the Canadian side, and camping for a long weekend this summer already- Most of it was outdoor stuff- TOnight we went to the state park and walked the gorge and the falls- and swam too- Exercise- but not feeling like exercise but more like fun- We do something every week- the 3 of us- even if it is just riding 4-wheelers together-

I wish that I had more time for family outings. Between my work schedule and school I dont have time. Granted my children are teens but they still deserve my time. I need to make more time for them. I feel horrible but what can I do. I tell myself that I will do more then I end up not doing so.

you know i felt the same way. but one thing i believe and know to be true, once you know better you do better. and now that you know that this is good for you and your older children to spend time together, then at least once a month you can do something with them. i too my son and lil girl to lunch and a movie this weekend
