Wow, this is a tough one... Well, considering that there are many cultures that exist, and manners is a very subjective matter, I just don't know what to say. :). But thinking really hard about it, oftentimes, I would only wonder why a person displays "bad manners." I believe that our actions are depictions of what our character is. On second thought, one can simply fake out good manners. So I would like to think that character is best revealed on very tight circumstances, I mean when we're pressured. Our reaction over a difficulty and unexpected "blows" would probably show who we really are.

When manners are to be displayed/performed/or just revealed, in different cultures, it is better to follow BE ROMAN IN ROME. You have analysed the topic very well. Thanks for your response.

Yeah, better be a Roman in Rome. :). My Dad says it is very important to understand people, and it is more helpful to understand people rather than "judge" them. :) Thanks. :)

I believe that good manners are the reflection of good character. A person with bad manners is not welcome and he is sure to make you feel uncomfortable in many occasions.

Yes I agree they are a reflection of good character, I believe that people that have bad manners are come across as rude, my kids are 5 and 8 and people all the time say how good mannered they are, they always say excuse me, please and thank you, your welcome..

The credit for teaching them good manners goes to you. The teaching of good manners is like investment and it repays not in terms of money but in terms of goodwill of the people which will open the gate to the whole world. Thanks for your interesting response.
