Are Idol Judges paid to humiliate?

So many people want to be discovered by going on American Idol and it has worked for a few. Do you think the judges get paid for humiliating the losers..I think if they were making suggestions it would be clear why, but to put these people down in front of the world I find very rude. Sometimes I think a lot of these people are put on the show just because they are so bad, the get to sing, the judges get to humiliate and the ratings go up. What do you think?
